Call for Papers: "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation" Academic Symposium

Since the 18th National Congress [1], changes in the domestic and international situation and the development of our country's various undertakings have presented us with a major subject of the era: we must systematically answer, through a combination of theory and practice, what kind of socialism with Chinese characteristics should be upheld and developed in the New Era, and how it should be upheld and developed. Centering on this major subject of the era, our Party has persisted in taking Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Theory of Three Represents [2], and the Scientific Outlook on Development as guidance; persisted in liberating the mind, seeking truth from facts, advancing with the times, and being realistic and pragmatic; and persisted in dialectical materialism and historical materialism. Closely integrating new epochal conditions and practical requirements, the Party has deepened its understanding of the laws of Communist Party governance, the laws of socialist construction, and the laws of the development of human society with an entirely new perspective. Through arduous theoretical exploration, it has achieved major theoretical innovation results, forming the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is the latest accomplishment in the Sinicization of Marxism, an important constituent part of the system of theories of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the guide to action for the whole Party and the people of the whole country to strive for the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

In order to profoundly grasp the spiritual essence and rich connotations of the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and to use this brand-new theory as guidance to promote the construction of a beautiful socialist modernization characterized by prosperity, democracy, civility, and harmony, and to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation at an early date, the Institute of Contemporary Chinese Thought and Culture—jointly established by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Shenzhen University—will host the academic symposium "Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation" at the beautiful Shenzhen University in the second half of 2018.
