2019 Working Plan for the Department of Marxist Studies on Recuitment of Outstanding Undergraduate Graduates for Master's Programs via Admission Exemption

In accordance with the relevant requirements of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences) regarding the 2019 recruitment of outstanding current undergraduate graduates for admission to Master’s degree programs via postgraduate recommendation [1], and in light of the specific circumstances of this Department, the 2019 work plan for the recruitment of recommended students to the Department of Marxism Studies is hereby announced as follows:

I. Application Criteria Personnel applying for admission to Master’s degree programs in this Department via recommendation must meet the following application criteria: (1) Citizens of the People's Republic of China. (2) Uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China, uphold the socialist system, be willing to serve socialist modernization, possess a spirit of dedication to the scientific endeavors of the motherland as well as research potential, possess good moral character, be law-abiding, possess ideals and ambitions, study diligently, be adept at reflection, and possess an awareness of innovation. (3) Must be outstanding 2019 current undergraduate graduates who have already obtained postgraduate recommendation eligibility. (4) Physical health status must meet the medical examination requirements stipulated by the State and the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

II. Application Procedures

  1. In accordance with the requirements of Ministry of Education documents, recommended students shall implement online registration. After September 28, 2018, recommended students should log in to the "National Information Disclosure and Management Service System for the Admission of Recommended Outstanding Current Undergraduate Graduates for Postgraduate Studies" (hereinafter referred to as the "Recommendation Service System," website: http://yz.chsi.com.cn/tm) to fill out and submit relevant information. Applicants who have not registered through the "Recommendation Service System" of the Graduate Admissions Network will not be admitted.
  2. After September 28, 2018, the Department of Marxism Studies will conduct an audit based on the materials submitted by the recommended students. After determining eligibility for the re-examination [2], the Department will issue re-examination notices to applicants through the "Recommendation Service System" and organize the re-examination. Applicants notified of the re-examination must submit the following materials to this Department prior to the re-examination: (1) “Application Form for the 2019 Admission of Recommended Students for Master’s Degrees at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences” (see attachment); (2) Transcripts of academic performance for all years of the undergraduate stage (must bear the official seal of the Academic Affairs Office of the recommending university); (3) Relevant forms required to be submitted during online registration; (4) Publicly published papers, monographs, or translations; (5) Certificates of award, etc.
  3. Political review [3], medical examinations, etc., shall be organized and completed by the Department of Marxism Studies during the re-examination stage; those who fail these requirements will not be admitted.
  4. The Department of Marxism Studies will conclude the re-examination work for the proposed admission of recommended students before October 11, 2018. Recommended students who have not obtained an undergraduate graduation certificate or a Bachelor’s degree, or who have received disciplinary actions or engaged in academic misconduct prior to enrollment (September 1, 2019), will not be admitted.

III. Re-examination Arrangements

  1. Re-examination Time: October 9, 2018.
  2. Re-examination Format: The re-examination is divided into a written examination (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and an interview (starting at 2:00 PM).
  3. Re-examination Location: Conference Room of the Department of Marxism Studies.
  4. Re-examination Content: The Department of Marxism Studies will organize an assessment group of five or more members to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the applicant’s learning ability, research ability, innovative spirit, work ability, as well as ideological and moral character.
  5. Re-examination Scoring: The total score for the re-examination is 300 points, with a passing threshold of 180 points. Within this, the total score for the written examination is 150 points, with a passing threshold of 90 points; the total score for the interview is 150 points, with a passing threshold of 90 points. The interview includes a comprehensive foreign language ability test (including listening and speaking), accounting for 50 points. Those who fail to meet the threshold will not be admitted.
