2018 Postdoctoral Recruitment Announcement of the Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

The Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) is a Marxist research institution re-established on December 26, 2005, on the foundation of the former Institute of Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought, following approval by the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee [1] on May 19, 2005. It serves as the sole supporting unit for the Academy’s Division of Marxist Studies. Approved by the National Postdoctoral Management Committee, the Institute established the "Postdoctoral Research Station in Marxist Theory" in 2007. For the year 2018, the research station will only recruit state-funded [2] postdoctoral researchers. The specific requirements are as follows:

I. Application Criteria (Must be met simultaneously)

  1. Possess high-quality political character and level of moral cultivation, and be law-abiding; possess a high level of scientific research ability and a spirit of innovation, and be capable of independently completing the research work required for the postdoctoral position.
  2. Under the age of 35, with excellent character and academic performance, and in good health.
  3. Have obtained a doctoral degree from a domestic or foreign institution and possess the doctoral degree certificate.
  4. The applicant's status must be non-incumbent [3].

II. Recruitment Specializations Marxist Principles, Sinicization of Marxism, History of the Development of Marxism, Scientific Socialism and the International Communist Movement, Ideological and Political Education [4], History of the Communist Party of China and Party Building, etc.

III. Application Materials Application materials include a personal resume, an abstract of the doctoral dissertation, and a proposed research plan (300-500 words). Materials should be formatted for A4 paper; please submit an electronic version in WORD format and simultaneously submit physical copies.
