Call for Papers for the 2019 National Symposium on the Basic Principles of Marxism
The discipline of basic principles of Marxism is a designated Priority Discipline of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) (led by Professor Cheng Enfu and Research Fellow Yu Bin) and a Beijing Municipal Key Discipline of the School of Marxism at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) (approved in 2012). The “National Seminar on the Basic Principles of Marxism” series is hosted by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies and the Beijing Innovation Center for Research on the Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (CUPL). The seminar aims to facilitate exchange and the demonstration of research findings among experts and scholars engaged in the study and teaching of the basic principles of Marxism, with the goal of promoting the classical inheritance, innovation, and development of these principles. In 2019, the 4th National Seminar on the Basic Principles of Marxism is scheduled to be held in July; we cordially invite colleagues from the national academic community to attend and participate in these exchanges.
The theme of this year's seminar is: "The 70th Anniversary of New China [1] and the Scientific Application of Marxist Principles." Specific topics include: (1) Research on and application of the basic principles of Marxism over the 70 years of New China; (2) Seventy Glorious Years: Looking at New China from the perspective of the basic principles of Marxism; (3) Looking Back a Century: The May Fourth Movement [2] and the Chinese People's Understanding and Acceptance of the Basic Principles of Marxism; (4) A Century of Global Change: The Communist International and the Global Dissemination of Marxism; (5) Frontier theoretical research and the scientific application of the basic principles of Marxism in contemporary China and abroad; and so forth.
The seminar operates on a "participation by paper" basis. Experts and scholars intending to attend are requested to write papers centered on the conference theme. Paper formatting should refer to the submission requirements of the journal Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi yanjiu). Following the conference, we will select outstanding papers for publication in a conference proceeding and recommend them to journals such as Marxist Studies and Studies on Political Economy (Zhengzhi jingjixue yanjiu). The deadline for submissions is early July 2019.
