Call for Papers: The 6th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Mao Zedong Thought Forum

In order to deeply study, research, and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the CPC [1], and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, we seek to further promote theoretical innovation based on practice. To strike a high-spirited melody of praise for the New China and forge ahead in the New Era within the field of academic and theoretical research, the 6th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Mao Zedong Thought Forum is scheduled to be held in Beijing on Saturday, April 13, 2019. The theme of this forum is "Mao Zedong Thought and 70 Years of the New China." The event will span three days: out-of-town guests will register on April 12; the full-day conference will take place on April 13; and out-of-town guests will depart on April 14.

The CASS Mao Zedong Thought Forum is a national high-end academic forum under the unified leadership of the Leading Group for the Construction of Marxist Theoretical Disciplines and Theoretical Research Project of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and is organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It is an authoritative forum in the fields of Mao Zedong Thought research and the study of Mao Zedong’s life, aiming to strengthen exchanges among scholars in the field of Mao Zedong Thought studies nationwide and to promote the in-depth development of such research. Since its founding in 2014, the forum has been held annually and has become one of the most influential national forums in the fields of Mao Zedong Thought and Mao Zedong studies.

We welcome everyone to actively write and submit papers centered on the theme of this forum and the following reference topics:

The forum operates on a "paper-based invitation" system, and we hereby solicit papers from experts, scholars, and teaching and research personnel nationwide engaged in the study of Mao Zedong Thought. Submitted papers should focus on the theme and the aforementioned reference topics with self-selected titles, while adhering to the correct political direction. Papers must be unpublished scientific research outcomes and comply with academic norms. The length of the paper should generally not exceed 8,000 words (including notes), accompanied by 3–5 keywords and a content abstract of no more than 300 words. Citations and historical materials must be accurate and rigorous, with sources clearly indicated (for formatting, please refer to the journal Marxist Studies [4]). Please attach a brief author biography, email address, and contact phone number at the end of the document.

After the papers pass the preliminary selection, the forum preparatory group will issue invitation letters to selected authors by the end of March.
