Appendix 1: Introduction to the National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics
To further promote exchange and cooperation among young Marxist economic scholars, to pioneer and innovate the problematic horizons and intellectual methods of Marxist economics, and simultaneously to build a platform for young scholars to demonstrate their prowess and disseminate ideas, the National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics is held with the support of relevant teaching and research units across the country. The forum is held annually, with the time and location announced through relevant media. Speakers at the meeting are young scholars in the field of Marxist economics (aged 45 and under).
The forum comprises Academic Advisors, a Board of Directors, a Secretariat, and an Executive Committee. Academic Advisors are responsible for grasping the developmental direction of the forum and providing overall academic guidance on themes and formats. The Board of Directors is the decision-making body, responsible for determining important matters such as the forum theme, timing, and location. The Secretariat is responsible for academic liaison, overall planning, and coordination. The Executive Committee is the implementation body, responsible for the specific meeting formats and conference logistics.
The Forum Secretariat is located in the Department of Principles at the Institute of Marxism Studies, CASS, one of the founding units. The permanent Secretary-General is served by personnel from the Department of Principles. The Executive Committee features a rotating chairperson, nominated by the host unit of each year’s forum. The permanent Secretary-General is responsible for convening and presiding over daily meetings and routine work. The rotating chairperson is responsible for the conference logistics of the current Executive Committee and assists in the logistics of the subsequent forum—primarily coordinating with the Board of Directors to determine themes and timing—to advance the forum’s related work.
