Call for Papers: The 12th National Forum for Young Scholars of Marxism
In order to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, comprehensively and deeply study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and continuously deepen the understanding and research of the Marxist theory of the state—particularly research on Xi Jinping’s important expositions on comprehensively building a great modern socialist country—and to promote mutual learning, exchange, and growth among young Marxist theoretical workers nationwide, the 12th National Forum for Young Marxist Scholars will be held in Nanchang, Jiangxi, in September 2019. The forum is jointly hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Nanchang Institute of Technology, and organized by the Editorial Department of Marxist Studies (Mǎkèsīzhǔyì Yánjiū) and the School of Marxism at Nanchang Institute of Technology. Original papers are now being solicited from young scholars across the country engaged in the research and teaching of Marxist theory.
I. Forum Theme and Topics (1) Forum Theme: Construction of a Great Modern Socialist Country in China from a Marxist Perspective.
(2) Forum Topics:
- The theoretical connotations and significant importance of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on comprehensively building a great modern socialist country.
- Theoretical contributions and practical explorations in building a great modern socialist country since the founding of New China [1].
- Research on the creation, development, and perfection of the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
- Research on scientific socialism [2] and socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era.
- The intrinsic connection between building a modern economic system and persisting in the fundamental socialist system.
- The rural revitalization strategy and the development of the rural collective economy.
- Research on the basic experience of the 70-year governance of the Communist Party of China.
II. Time and Venue Time: Mid-to-late September 2019 (tentative). For the specific time, please follow: “Marxist Studies Network” (myy.cass.cn), the “Marxist Studies (Journal),” and the “Marxist Studies” WeChat official account. Venue: School of Marxism, Nanchang Institute of Technology (Nanchang, Jiangxi).
III. Method of Participation Participation is based on paper submission. Following a peer review by experts, invitation letters will be sent to the authors of selected papers.
IV. Submission Requirements
- Submission deadline: July 30, 2019.
- The length of the article should ideally be between 10,000 and 15,000 Chinese characters. The paper should have a clear theme, correct viewpoints, and clear argumentation, reflecting academic rigor and innovation, and must not have been previously published.
- The main text of the paper should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 500 characters), keywords (3–5), and an author profile (name, gender, age, affiliation, professional title, position, contact address, telephone number, and email). The main text should follow the submission style of Marxist Studies.

VI. Special Forum Activities
- Paper Awards: 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 4 excellence awards, with bonuses and certificates to be issued.
- Hosting a “Face-to-Face” activity between the Marxist Studies editorial department and young scholars.
- Inviting outstanding young scholars who have published articles in Marxist Studies to deliver reports.
