Call for Papers: The 6th National Forum on Foreign Marxism Research (2019)

The year 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China. In order to comprehensively review and summarize the history of the study of foreign Marxism [1], track and grasp the latest developments and dynamics in the field, continuously deepen research, draw lessons from the intellectual achievements of foreign Marxism, and innovatively develop 21st-century Marxism and contemporary Chinese Marxism, the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the China University of Mining and Technology (Xuzhou) will jointly host the "Sixth National Forum on the Study of Foreign Marxism (2019)." The World Socialism Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences will co-organize the event. The theme of the forum is "70 Years of Foreign Marxism Research."

I. Centering on the conference theme, this forum will focus on the following topics:

  1. 70 years of the study of foreign Marxism
  2. 70 years of the study of world socialism
  3. Research on the foundational theories of foreign Marxism
  4. Research on the schools and representative figures of foreign Marxism
  5. Foreign Marxist research on new changes and development trends in contemporary capitalism
  6. The developmental status and direction of foreign Communist Parties and left-wing political parties in the 21st century
  7. Foreign research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era
  8. Other issues related to foreign Marxism and left-wing research

II. Time and Venue of the Forum

  1. Time: Late October 2019 (specific dates to be announced later)
  2. Venue: China University of Mining and Technology (Xuzhou)

III. Conference Papers To ensure the success of this forum, we welcome active submissions from experts and scholars from social science academies, research institutions, higher education institutions, Party schools [2], academies of governance [3], military academies, and related research fields nationwide.

Papers must adhere to the Marxist standpoint, viewpoint, and method; closely follow the theme and topics; and emphasize ideological, academic, and practical significance. Papers must be original, unpublished works of approximately 8,000 characters. The author's name, affiliation, position/title, and contact information must be provided at the end of the text. The format and style for papers, notes, and references should follow World Socialism Studies (《世界社会主义研究》), hosted by the CASS World Socialism Research Center. Outstanding papers will be recommended for publication in this journal. The deadline for paper submission is September 30, 2019.

When submitting, please send an electronic version of the paper (paper copies are not accepted) to the email address: gwmkszy2018@sina.com. The format for the email subject should be: Paper Title + Work Unit + Name.

Experts will be organized to review the submissions, and an electronic version of the formal invitation letter will be sent to selected authors by October 10. A hard copy of the formal invitation will be issued upon registration.

IV. Conference Expenses This forum does not charge a registration fee. Participants are responsible for their own round-trip transportation and accommodation expenses.
