Call for Papers: "Contemporary Chinese Thought and Culture and the 70th Anniversary of the People's Republic of China" Academic Symposium

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and to profoundly and systematically summarize the lineages, characteristics, laws, achievements, and roles of our country's ideological and cultural development over the past 70 years, the Institute of Contemporary Chinese Thought and Culture—jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Institute of Marxism Studies and Shenzhen University—will host the academic symposium "Contemporary Chinese Thought and Culture and the 70 Years of the New China" on June 28–29, 2019. The purpose of this symposium is to promote the construction of contemporary Chinese thought and culture, better construct the Chinese spirit, Chinese values, and Chinese power, build a consensus for the Chinese nation, and continuously strengthen cultural confidence [1]. Closely revolving around the theme of the conference, this symposium will focus its deliberations on the following content:

  1. Marxism and the construction of thought and culture during the 70 years of the New China.
  2. Research on using Marxism to analyze and guide social trends of thought.
  3. Research on the developmental trajectory and laws of thought and culture during the 70 years of the New China.
  4. Research on the experiences and achievements of the construction of thought and culture during the 70 years of the New China.
  5. Research on the collation of documents concerning thought and culture during the 70 years of the New China.
  6. Research on the construction of socialist spiritual civilization [2].
  7. Research on the advanced culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
  8. Research on promoting revolutionary culture and inheriting "red genes" [3].
  9. Research on the paths for achieving the creative transformation and innovative development of fine traditional Chinese culture [4].
  10. Research on cultivating and practicing Socialist Core Values.

The symposium is hosted by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies and Shenzhen University. It is organized by the Institute of Contemporary Chinese Thought and Culture (a collaborative initiative between the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, its Department of Sinicization of Marxism Research, and Shenzhen University), the Shenzhen University School of Marxism, and the Shenzhen University Social Science Division. We cordially invite experts and scholars nationwide engaged in research in this field to actively submit papers.

Submission Requirements: All submitted papers must be new, unpublished works of approximately 10,000 characters, including an author biography, abstract, keywords, main text, and references. Papers are required to maintain a firm political stance, a clear theme, correct perspectives, and accurate citations.

The deadline for submissions is June 20, 2019. Please send an electronic copy of your paper (please include a telephone number for timely contact) to the conference paper inbox: hejiesz@szu.edu.cn.

After all submissions have been reviewed by relevant experts, invitations to the conference will be sent to the authors of selected papers. If possible, a collection of conference papers will be published following the event.
