2020 Working Plan for the Department of Marxist Studies on Recruiting Outstanding Undergraduate Graduates for Master's Programs via Admission Exemption
In accordance with the relevant requirements of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS) regarding the recruitment of outstanding 2020 graduating undergraduates for admission to Master’s degree programs via postgraduate recommendation and exemption [1], and in light of the specific circumstances of this department, the Work Plan for the recruitment of recommended and exempted students [2] for the year 2020 in the Department of Marxism Studies is hereby announced as follows:
I. Application Criteria
Personnel applying for Master's degree candidacy in this department via recommendation and exemption must meet the following criteria:
(1) Citizens of the People's Republic of China. (2) Uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China; uphold the socialist system; be willing to serve socialist modernization; possess a spirit of dedication to the scientific endeavors of the Motherland and demonstrate potential for scientific research; possess good moral character and integrity; abide by the law and discipline; possess ideals and ambition; study diligently and think deeply; and possess a sense of innovation. (3) Must be an outstanding 2020 graduating undergraduate who has already obtained the qualification for recommendation and exemption. (4) Physical health status must comply with the medical examination requirements stipulated by the State and the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
II. Application Procedures
In accordance with the requirements of Ministry of Education documents, recommended and exempted students shall implement online registration. The Department of Marxism Studies shall strictly carry out recruitment work in accordance with the majors, research directions, and quotas for recommended and exempted students announced in the 2020 Master's Graduate Admissions Professional Catalog of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It is planned to recruit 3 recommended and exempted students. After September 28, 2019, recommended and exempted students should log in to the "National Information Disclosure and Management Service System for Recommending Outstanding Graduating Undergraduates for Postgraduate Studies via Exemption" (hereinafter referred to as the "Recommendation and Exemption Service System," URL: http://yz.chsi.com.cn/tm) to fill in and submit relevant information. Applicants who have not registered through the Graduate Admissions Network’s "Recommendation and Exemption Service System" will not be admitted.
After September 28, 2019, the Department of Marxism Studies will review the materials submitted by the recommended and exempted students. After determining the qualification for the re-examination [3], the department will issue a re-examination notice to the applicant through the "Recommendation and Exemption Service System" and organize the re-examination. Applicants notified of the re-examination must submit the following materials to this department prior to the re-examination: (1) Application Form for the 2020 Recruitment of Recommended and Exempted Students for Master's Degrees at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (see attachment); (2) Undergraduate transcripts (must bear the official seal of the recommending university's academic affairs management department); (3) Relevant forms required to be submitted during online registration; (4) Publicly published papers, monographs (or translations); (5) Award certificates, etc.
Political vetting [4], medical examinations, etc., shall be organized and completed by the Department of Marxism Studies during the re-examination stage. Those who fail will not be admitted.
The Department of Marxism Studies shall conclude the re-examination work for the planned recruitment of recommended and exempted students by October 11, 2019. Recommended and exempted students who have not obtained their undergraduate graduation certificate or Bachelor's degree, or who have been subject to disciplinary action or involved in academic misconduct prior to enrollment (subject to the enrollment time announced by the university for that year), will not be admitted.
III. Re-examination Arrangements
- Re-examination Time: October 8 to 9, 2019 (including written examination, interview, medical examination, etc.).
- Re-examination Format and Scoring: The re-examination is divided into a written examination and an interview, with a total score of 300 points and a passing grade of 180 points. Among these: Written examination subject: Marxist Theory, total score of 150 points, passing grade of 90 points; Interview: total score of 150 points, passing grade of 90 points. The interview includes a professional competence interview (100 points) and a comprehensive foreign language ability test (including listening and speaking, 50 points). Those who fail will not be admitted.
- Re-examination Location: Conference Room of the Department of Marxism Studies.
- Re-examination Content: The Department of Marxism Studies will organize an assessment group of five or more people to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the applicant's learning ability, scientific research records, spirit of innovation, ideological and moral character, and other aspects. If a recommended and exempted student has an objection to the recommendation and exemption work of this department, they may file an appeal with the department's re-examination assessment group.
