Moscow State University Professors Buzgalin and Bulavka Visit the Academy of Marxism for Academic Exchange

On October 23, 2019, Professors Buzgalin and Slavka ^[1] of the Center for Marxist Studies at Moscow State University delivered academic lectures in conference room 1345 of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The session was chaired by Professor Liu Zhiming, Director of the Department of Marxist Development Research at the Institute of Marxism Studies, and was attended by all staff members of the Institute.

Buzgalin’s report, titled "Russian Perspectives on the Chinese Path and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics," provided a detailed introduction to the understandings held by various sectors of Russian society regarding the Chinese path, socialism with Chinese characteristics, China's developmental achievements, and Sino-Russian relations. Furthermore, from the perspective of a Russian Marxist economist, he offered recommendations concerning the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era.

Buzgalin noted that issues concerning China affect the entire world, and whether the "China Model" can be replicated is one of the questions of widespread international concern. With the rise of China, reports and commentaries in the Russian media regarding China's politics, economy, and diplomacy have increased daily in recent years. Due to differences in political views and ideology, Russian media outlets such as Sovetskaya Rossiya ^[2], Rossiyskaya Gazeta ^[3], and Nezavisimaya Gazeta ^[4] maintain distinct fundamental attitudes toward Chinese issues.
