Call for Papers: The 6th National Forum on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and in order to comprehensively review and summarize the glorious course, developmental logic, great contributions, and major achievements of socialism with Chinese characteristics in China; to scientifically understand and evaluate the innovative theories and great practices of socialism with Chinese characteristics; and to fully open a new chapter in the research and dissemination of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era, the Sixth National Forum on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics—organized by the Leading Group for Marxist Disciplinary Development and Theoretical Research of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and co-hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS and the School of Marxism at the China University of Petroleum (East China)—is scheduled to be held from November 29 to December 1, 2019, at the School of Marxism, China University of Petroleum (East China).

  1. Research on the historical process and developmental logic of socialism with Chinese characteristics;
  2. Research on the practical exploration and theoretical contributions of socialism with Chinese characteristics;
  3. Research on the fundamental experience and historical orientation [1] of socialism with Chinese characteristics;
  4. Research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era;
  5. Research on the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches regarding the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China;
  6. Research on upholding and improving the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics;
  7. Research on advancing the modernization of the state governance system and governance capacity [2];
  8. Research on socialism with Chinese characteristics and the "Four Confidences" [3];
  9. Research on socialism with Chinese characteristics and scientific socialism [4];
  10. Research on the global influence of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

III. Manuscript Requirements This forum adopts a "participation based on submission" policy. We sincerely invite teaching and research personnel from national research institutions, institutions of higher education, and Party and government departments to actively submit contributions. The deadline is November 24, 2019. Manuscript requirements are as follows:

  1. Submissions must maintain a correct political stance, possess a clear theme and rigorous logic, and integrate historical analysis with theoretical discourse [5]. They should demonstrate academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical and practical value;
  2. Papers must be original, unpublished works of no less than 8,000 words. They should utilize footnotes (not endnotes) and strictly follow the publication format of Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu). The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 300 words), keywords (3-5), a brief author biography, and detailed contact information.

No registration fee will be charged for this forum. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses during the conference. After selection by the expert review committee, the organizing committee will issue invitation letters to selected authors by November 25. Outstanding papers will also be selected for recommendation for publication in Marxism Studies.
