Call for Papers: The 7th Scientific Socialism Forum of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, in order to comprehensively review and summarize the glorious trajectory, developmental logic, great contributions, and major achievements of scientific socialism in China; to scientifically synthesize the theory and great practice of scientific socialism; and to fully initiate a new phase in the research and dissemination of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era, the 7th National Forum on Scientific Socialism—sponsored by the Leading Group for Marxist Theoretical Discipline Development and Theoretical Research of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and co-organized by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies and Liaoning Normal University—is scheduled to be held at Liaoning Normal University from December 7–8, 2019.

  1. Historic achievements and valuable experience gained in the construction and development of the New China;
  2. The historical logic of the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics;
  3. The developmental context, process, and theoretical contributions of socialism with Chinese characteristics;
  4. Theoretical contributions and practical explorations of Chinese socialist modernization;
  5. Research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era;
  6. Scientific socialism and contemporary Chinese Marxism;
  7. Research on scientific socialism and socialism with Chinese characteristics in the New Era;
  8. Research on the modernization of the national governance system and capacity [1], and confidence in the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics;
  9. Research on the future and destiny of capitalism;
  10. Research on the future and destiny of world socialism;
  11. The developmental dilemmas and way forward for the world's proletarian political parties;
  12. Research on the laws of development and construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics.

III. Manuscript Requirements This forum adopts the method of "participation based on submission." We sincerely invite teaching and research personnel from national research institutions, institutions of higher education, and Party and government departments to actively submit manuscripts. The deadline is November 25, 2019.

Manuscript requirements:

  1. The submission must maintain a correct political stance, feature a clear theme and rigorous logic, and integrate historical narrative with theoretical analysis (shǐ lùn jié hé) [2]. It should reflect academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical and practical value;
  2. The paper must be an original work that has not yet been published, with a length of no less than 8,000 words. Please use footnotes; the specific format should follow the publication standards of Marxism Studies (Mǎkèsīzhǔyì Yánjiū). The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 300 words), keywords (3–5), a brief author biography, and detailed contact information.

This forum does not charge a conference fee. Transportation and accommodation expenses during the meeting are to be covered by the participants. Following a selection process by the expert review committee, the conference organizing group will issue invitation letters to selected authors by December 1. The conference will also select outstanding papers to be recommended for publication in Marxism Studies.
