Call for Papers: The 7th Forum on the Theory and Practice of Ruling Party Building

The "Seventh Forum on the Theory and Practice of Governing Party Building," jointly organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), Yangzhou University, and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), is scheduled to be held at Yangzhou University from November 20 to 22, 2020. We cordially invite colleagues from the academic community and practitioners to write papers centered on the forum’s theme and to take the time to attend the seminar.

I. Forum Theme Uphold and Improve the Institutional System of Party Leadership

  1. Research on the institutions for "staying true to our original aspiration and founding mission" [1]
  2. Research on various institutions for upholding the authority of the Party Central Committee and its centralized, unified leadership
  3. Research on improving the institutions for the Party’s comprehensive leadership [2]
  4. Research on various institutions for governing for the people and relying on the people to govern
  5. Research on improving the Party’s governing capacity and leadership level
  6. Research on improving the Party’s methods of leadership and governance
  7. Research on the institutional implementation of democratic centralism in leadership work
  8. Research on issues concerning the implementation of the Guiding Principles for Political Life Within the Party Under the New Situation [3]
  9. Research on systems for comprehensively and strictly governing the Party
  10. Research on other aspects of Party building

III. Time and Location (1) Time: Registration on November 20 (Friday), Conference on November 21 (Saturday), Departure on November 22 (Sunday). (2) Location: New Century Hotel, Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province.

IV. Other Matters

  1. The forum does not charge a conference fee; participants are responsible for their own round-trip transportation and accommodation costs. Hard-copy invitation letters will be distributed on-site on the afternoon of November 21 after the session.
  2. Please send your paper and the conference receipt to the email djcass@sina.com before November 8, 2020. The organizing committee will send official invitations based on the quality of the manuscripts.
  3. Attendance is based on the submission of a paper; after the forum, selected papers will be published in a collection or recommended to relevant core journals. The electronic file of the paper should be named "Author Name + University + Article Title." Submissions should choose their own titles and perspectives centered on the theme, and must adhere to the correct political and academic orientation. Papers must be unpublished research results, ideally 6,000–10,000 characters in length. Please use Word software for formatting, and include 3–5 keywords and an abstract of no more than 300 characters. Citations should use footnotes at the bottom of the page, renumbered on each page. For specific details, please refer to the publication format of the journal Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu). Please attach personal information at the end of the text, including a brief biography, professional title, position, contact phone number, and email address.
  4. Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, conference details may be subject to adjustment. Applicants are requested to maintain timely contact with the conference organizers.
