Notice of the 2021 National Symposium on Ideological and Political Education

In 2021, we joyfully welcome the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the National Academic Symposium on Ideological and Political Education. At this momentous occasion of national celebration, in order to commemorate the Party's centenary, thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee [1] and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech at the Party History Learning and Education Mobilization Conference, we seek to: cast the soul and nurture the person [2] with Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era; inspire morale and clarify direction through the Party’s course of struggle and great achievements; strengthen conviction and coalesce strength through the Party’s glorious traditions and fine conduct; enlighten wisdom and temper character through the Party’s practical creations and historical experience; and promote the innovative development of ideological and political education in the New Era through the Party’s theoretical innovations and synthesis of experience. In order to effectively improve the efficacy of ideological and political education, the "2021 National Academic Symposium on Ideological and Political Education" is scheduled to be held from July 16 to 19, 2021, in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The symposium is jointly organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Inner Mongolia Normal University, and co-sponsored by the Department of Sinicization of Marxism Research at the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies and the School of Marxism at Inner Mongolia Normal University.

I. Symposium Theme: A Centenary Retrospective and Prospect of the Communist Party of China’s Ideological and Political Education

  1. Research on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on ideological and political work
  2. Comparative research on ideological and political education within the perspective of the "Great Changes Unseen in a Century" [3]
  3. Experience and enlightenments from one hundred years of the Communist Party of China's ideological and political education
  4. Prospects for ideological and political education at the historical intersection of the "Two Centenary Goals" [4]
  5. Intellectual trends and their influence during the century of the Communist Party of China's ideological and political education
  6. The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the Communist Party of China's ideological and political education
  7. Bearing in mind the "Two Overarching Dimensions" [5] and the innovative development of ideological and political education in the New Era
  8. Retrospective and prospect of the Communist Party of China's ideological and political education in ethnic minority regions over the past century
  9. The hundred-year course and experiential enlightenments of ideological and political education in higher education institutions
  10. Research on the Spiritual Pedigree of the Communist Party of China [6]

III. Time and Location

  1. Time: Registration on July 16, 2021 (Friday); Sessions on July 17–18 (Saturday and Sunday); Departure on July 19 (Monday).
  2. Location: Inner Mongolia Normal University (No. 81 Zhaowuda Road, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region)

IV. Participation Methods

  1. Participation is based on paper submission. Experts and scholars are invited to write papers focusing on the symposium theme and topics. Paper requirements are as follows: (1) Guided by Marxism, with a clear theme, reflecting academic rigor and innovation; (2) Must include an abstract (approx. 400 words), keywords (3–5), author biography (name, gender, affiliation, professional title, and position), and detailed contact information (address, telephone, and email) before the main text; (3) Foreign language citations and formatting should refer to the submission style of Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu); (4) Length should be approximately 8,000 words, with standardized citations and accurate quotations.
  2. Please send the paper as a Word document to the symposium email: qgsxzzjy2021@126.com. The file should be named as "Name + Affiliation + Paper Title." The submission deadline is May 31, 2021.
  3. The organizing committee will issue formal invitation letters to selected authors. After the symposium, a collection of papers titled Collected Essays on Ideological and Political Education Research (Vol. 11) will be published, and outstanding papers will be recommended for publication in Marxism Studies and other key journals.
