Call for Papers for the 2021 National Forum on the Basic Principles of Marxism
The discipline of Basic Principles of Marxism is a designated Priority Discipline [1] of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) (led by Professor Cheng Enfu and Research Fellow Yu Bin) and is also a Beijing Municipal Key Discipline of the School of Marxism at the China University of Political Science and Law (approved in 2012). The "National Symposium on the Basic Principles of Marxism" series aims to facilitate exchange and the display of research achievements among experts and scholars engaged in the study and teaching of the basic principles of Marxism, with the goal of promoting the classical inheritance, innovation, and development of these principles. The 2021 National Symposium on the Basic Principles of Marxism is jointly organized by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, the editorial department of World Socialism Studies, the Beijing Collaborative Innovation Center for the Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (China University of Political Science and Law), and the Office of Disciplinary Development, the Center for Innovative Marxism, and the School of Marxism at Northwestern Polytechnical University. The symposium is scheduled to be held in September 2021, and we sincerely invite colleagues from the national academic community to attend and engage in exchange.
The theme of this symposium is: "Marxist Theory of Modernization and the Century of Practice of the Communist Party of China." Specific topics include: (1) The Communist Party of China’s application and development of the basic principles of Marxism over the past century; (2) The Sinicization and popularization [2] of the basic principles of Marxism since the founding of the Party a century ago; (3) Special thematic research on the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the Marxist theory of modernization; (4) Frontier theoretical research and the scientific application of the basic principles of Marxism, among others.
Participation in the symposium is "contingent upon submission of a paper." Experts and scholars intending to attend are requested to write papers centered on the symposium theme. The paper format should refer to the submission requirements of the journal Marxist Studies. Following the conference, we will select outstanding papers to recommend to journals such as Marxist Studies, Studies in Political Economy, Contemporary Economic Research, and World Socialism Studies. The deadline for paper submissions is August 25, 2021.
