Call for Papers: The 31st Annual Conference of the Chinese Association for Political Economy and the 24th Seminar of the China Haipai Economics Forum
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and to further advance the study and interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialist Economy with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, we aim to uphold the fundamentals and break new ground in Marxist political economy and strengthen theoretical research into the inherent laws [1] of comprehensively building a modern socialist country. To this end, the 31st Annual Meeting of the China Society of Political Economy and the 24th Seminar of the Chinese Haipai [2] Economics Forum are scheduled to be held in Changchun, Jilin Province, on September 11–12, 2021 (the weekend). The conference is hosted by the China Society of Political Economy, the Center for China Public Sector Economy Research of Jilin University, and the Academy of Haipai Economics of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; it is organized by the Center for China Public Sector Economy Research of Jilin University, the Center for Research on Political Economy of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics of Jilin University, and the Research Center for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics of Jilin University; and it is co-organized by the Center for Economic and Social Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the Department of Principles of the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS, the School of Economics of Jilin University, and the School of Marxism of Jilin University.
With the theme "Theoretical Innovation in Economics over the CPC’s Hundred-Year History and the Historical Journey of Socialist Modernization," this conference will focus on the following topics:
- Research on the CPC’s century-long exploration of China’s path to economic modernization and a summary of its historical experience.
- Research on the CPC’s adherence to and development of Marxist economic theory over the past hundred years.
- Research on Xi Jinping’s important discourses on comprehensively building a modern socialist country.
- Research on the connotations, characteristics, and significance of the path of Chinese-path modernization.
- Comparative research on Chinese and foreign modernization models and paths.
- Research on strengthening, optimizing, and expanding state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and state capital.
- Research on "New Imperialism," [3] US containment of the Chinese economy, and China’s strategic responses.
- Research on Chinese and foreign Marxist political economy and current domestic and international economic trends.
- Research on continuously promoting the scholarly development of the "New Marxian Economics Synthetic School." [4]
We sincerely invite teaching and research personnel from national research institutions, institutions of higher learning, and other units, as well as members of this Society, to actively submit manuscripts. Manuscript requirements:
(1) The theme must be distinct and the argumentation clear, reflecting continuity, scholarship, and innovation. (2) Citations must be standardized and quotations accurate, with sources noted at the bottom of the page (footnotes). (3) The main text of the paper should be preceded by an abstract (approximately 800 characters), a brief author biography, and multiple contact methods. (4) The deadline for submission is July 20, 2021. Official invitations will be issued to selected authors before July 25. Selected papers will be considered for the Society’s "Excellent Paper" award for this year, and outstanding entries will be compiled into a collection published by Economic Science Press. Excellent papers may be recommended to journals such as Marxian Studies, Journal of Political Economy, Contemporary Economic Research, Journal of Shandong University (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition), Journal of Management, and Haipai Economics.
