Call for Papers: Theoretical Seminar on "The Sinicization of Marxism in a Centennial Perspective"

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, to conduct in-depth research into Li Da’s [1] theoretical contributions and practical significance to the Sinicization of Marxism, and to systematically organize the developmental course and internal logic of the Sinicization of Marxism within a centennial perspective, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Research Center for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee have decided to hold a theoretical symposium titled "The Sinicization of Marxism in a Centennial Perspective" in late May or early June 2021. The event will take place in Lengshuitan District, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province—the hometown of Comrade Li Da. The theme of the symposium is "The Sinicization of Marxism in a Centennial Perspective." We welcome active submissions and participation from experts and scholars in relevant research fields from major universities, Party schools, academies of socialism, Research Centers for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and Marxist research institutions across the country, as well as Party affairs theoretical workers from Party and government organs, enterprises, and public institutions.

III. Time and Venue of the Symposium

  1. Time: Early June 2021; duration of one day. Morning: Keynote speeches by renowned national experts and scholars. Afternoon: Sub-forum discussions. Sub-forum 1 Theme: Li Da’s Theoretical Contributions and Practical Significance to the Sinicization of Marxism. Sub-forum 2 Theme: The Centennial Logic of the Sinicization of Marxism. Sub-forum 3 Theme: Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is Contemporary Chinese Marxism and 21st-Century Marxism.
  2. Venue: Huatian Hotel, Lengshuitan District, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province.

IV. Submission Requirements and Related Matters

  1. Paper titles may be self-selected: Research should center on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the latest achievement of the Sinicization of Marxism, covering related fields of Sinicization such as Marxist philosophy, political economy, scientific socialism, Party building, and ideology. Papers must maintain correct viewpoints and emphasize ideological, academic, and practical qualities; the length should be approximately 5,000 characters.
  2. Submission deadline: May 10. Please send the electronic draft of the paper to mkszyzgh2021@163.com. The email subject should be formatted as "Affiliation + Name." The organizers will arrange for experts to review the submissions. Selected participants will be notified in late May to attend the conference based on their papers and will be sent a formal invitation. Accepted papers will be compiled and published, and outstanding papers will be recommended for publication in journals.
  3. The format sequence for papers is: title, author's name, affiliation (specified down to the secondary unit), abstract, keywords, and main text. Citations should be formatted as footnotes. Please include the author's academic resume (title, position, research direction), contact information, and project funding details at the bottom of the first page.
  4. Due to the limited scale of the conference, only one author will be invited for each accepted paper. If there are other accompanying personnel, they must arrange their own food and lodging.
  5. Conference Fees: No registration fee will be charged. Travel expenses are to be borne by the participants. Food and lodging expenses during the conference will be covered by the organizing committee.
  6. The forum will not arrange pick-up services. Delegates are requested to proceed to the Huatian Hotel (next to Quhe Bridge), Lengshuitan District, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, for registration upon arrival.
