Call for Papers: Academic Seminar on "Modernization of National Governance at the Centenary Historical Intersection"

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and in order to promote academic research on the modernization of national governance and the building of a great modern socialist country, the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Harbin Normal University intend to co-host the "2021 Academic Symposium on Modernized National Governance at the Historical Confluence" from June 11 to 13, 2021. We are now soliciting papers from colleagues in the national academic community and welcome all to attend based on their submissions.

I. Conference Theme The Modernization of National Governance at the Centenary Historical Confluence [1]

II. Conference Topics

  1. Research on General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions regarding social governance capacity and the governance system.
  2. Research on the historical foundation, experience, and principles of modern nation-building over the century since the founding of the Party.
  3. Research on the historical, theoretical, and practical logic of the institutional advantages of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
  4. Research on the theoretical foundations of the modernization of social governance capacity and systems.
  5. Research on the practical mechanisms of the modernization of social governance capacity and systems.
  6. Research on Party building and the modernization of social governance capacity and systems.
  7. Research on discourse systems within the modernization of the national governance system and capacity.
  8. Research on the Great Anti-Epidemic Spirit [2] and the modernization of social governance capacity and systems.
  9. Research on the modernization of governance systems and capacity in higher education institutions.
  10. Research on the modernization of governance capacity from the perspective of the poverty alleviation transition [3].

III. Conference Time and Address Conference Time: Registration on June 11, 2021; full-day conference on June 12; departure on June 13. Conference Venue: Harbin Normal University.

IV. Conference Format Format: Offline meeting. No conference fee will be charged; participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses.

V. Participation Methods

  1. Participation is based on the submission of papers; experts and scholars are requested to write papers revolving around the conference theme and topics. Paper requirements are as follows: (1) Guided by Marxism, with a clear theme, reflecting academic rigor and innovation; (2) An abstract (approx. 400 words), keywords (3–5), a brief author biography (name, gender, work unit, professional title, position), and detailed contact information (address, telephone, email) must be attached before the main text; (3) The main text should follow the submission style of Marxist Studies (Mar克斯主义研究); (4) The word count should be approximately 8,000 words, requiring standardized citations and accurate quotations.
  2. Conference papers should be sent as Word documents to the conference email: hsdmyhy@126.com. The file should be named "Name + Paper Title." The submission deadline is April 30, 2021. After the papers pass the preliminary selection, the forum preparatory group will send invitation letters to the selected authors by May 20.
