Children's Hearts Toward the Party: A Tribute to the Centenary
To joyfully celebrate International Children’s Day and the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and to utilize children's unique perspectives and understanding to demonstrate their love for the Party and the motherland while passing down the "red gene" [1], the Women’s Working Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies—with the approval of the Institute’s Party Committee—organized a series of themed activities entitled "The Children's Heart Turns Toward the Party: A Tribute to the Centenary."
"The Children's Heart Turns Toward the Party": DIY Cultural T-shirt Painting Activity. Centered on the theme of celebrating the CPC centenary, children used painting, calligraphy, and poetry to express their affection for the Party and the motherland. The activity received 32 online submissions, including works titled Embroidering the Red Flag, The Children's Heart Turns Toward the Party, I Love You, Motherland, and Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration. The Women’s Working Committee custom-made exclusive DIY t-shirts for the children printed with their own artwork, which were warmly received.
"Telling Red Stories and Singing Red Children’s Songs": A Parent-Child Activity. Organized by family units, this activity utilized shared reading of "red" [2] picture books and heroic tales, as well as singing "red" nursery rhymes, to join hands with children in passing down "red traditions," "red memories," and the "red gene." The activity received six video submissions, including The Heroic Little Sisters of the Grassland (story), Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China (song), and The Youth Friendship Waltz (song). The Women’s Working Committee edited and compiled these videos onto commemorative DVDs for the participating children.
"Experiencing the Charm of Science and Technology, Enhancing Parental Bonds": Visit to the China Science and Technology Museum and parent-child activities at the Olympic Forest Park. On May 29, 2021, a total of 34 parents and children participated in the event.
The China Science and Technology Museum functions primarily as a center for science education; it not only popularizes scientific knowledge but also emphasizes the dissemination of scientific ideology, methods, and spirit. Parents accompanied their children to five major themed exhibition halls—"Science Paradise," "Glory of China," "Exploration and Discovery," "Science, Technology, and Life," and "Challenges and the Future"—as well as various laboratories, classrooms, science lecture halls, multi-function halls, and temporary exhibition spaces. While viewing technological exhibits, the children personally engaged in scientific practice and experiments. Through this interaction, they profoundly experienced the integration and mutual resonance of technological development and global scientific civilization, reflected upon the wisdom and creativity of the Chinese nation, and stimulated their interest and curiosity regarding science and technology.
Following the museum visit, the Women’s Working Committee organized various parent-child games near the Olympic Forest Park, including "hands and feet" coordination games, tossing games, musical chairs, and the singing of classic "red" songs. Through these fun games, parental bonds were strengthened; through the "red" songs, the participants experienced revolutionary culture and carried forward the "red gene." The Women’s Working Committee also prepared exquisite small gifts for the children as encouragement.
Through the "The Children's Heart Turns Toward the Party: A Tribute to the Centenary" International Children’s Day series of activities, children not only learned about the century-long history and achievements of the CPC but also deepened their family bonds. The objective of "integrating education with recreation" was achieved, and the children spent a joyful holiday in a spirited atmosphere.
