Inauguration of the Wanning National Conditions Research Base of the Academy of Marxism, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
On the morning of July 12, the "National Conditions Research Base of the Institute of Marxism Studies [1] of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) at Wanning" was officially inaugurated. Yang Zhibin, member of the Standing Committee of the Wanning Municipal Party Committee and Head of the Propaganda Department [2] of Hainan Province, and Yu Junxiao, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Vice President of the Institute of Marxism Studies of CASS, jointly unveiled the plaque for the Wanning National Conditions Research Base. The ceremony was presided over by Shi Guozhao, Executive Deputy Head of the Municipal Party Committee’s Propaganda Department.
In his speech, Yang Zhibin stated that the establishment of the Wanning National Conditions Research Base is a continuation of the cooperation and exchange between the two parties. He expressed gratitude to the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies for supporting Wanning’s work in the realm of ideology [3], and noted that Wanning will spare no effort in supporting the Institute’s national conditions research activities in the city. He pointed out that this year marks the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Under the leadership of the CPC, all undertakings in China are manifesting an exceptionally brilliant future. As the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port [4] enters its opening year, Wanning must seize greater strategic initiative amidst the tide of development to promote deeper economic and social progress; this requires the strong support and guidance of a national-level think tank. The establishment of the Wanning National Conditions Research Base will assist Wanning in strengthening ideology and cultural security during its development, while greatly benefiting the city in summarizing practical experience, identifying the root causes of problems, and breaking through development bottlenecks.
Yu Junxiao pointed out that the national conditions research bases of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies are rooted in local areas and the grassroots [5]. They hold great significance for understanding grassroots economic and social development and summarizing local development experiences. She remarked that Wanning possesses the advantages of "the right time, the right place, and harmony among the people" [6]. Regarding the future construction of the Free Trade Port, Wanning will certainly serve as an important force and a vivid example of Hainan's construction of a free trade port. The establishment of the Wanning National Conditions Research Base is both a full reflection of the previous successful cooperation between the Institute and Wanning City, and an important opportunity for both sides to further promote scientific research cooperation and deepen exchanges. Furthermore, it provides a practical platform for scholars from the Institute to integrate theory with practice [7] at the "frontline" of reform and opening up. In the next stage, the Institute will mobilize all its forces to go deep into reality, learn from and grasp Wanning’s innovative practices, and utilize its professional expertise to summarize and publicize Wanning’s successful experiences. At the same time, the Institute will actively offer suggestions for Wanning’s development in the New Era, acting as a booster for Wanning’s growth, a witness to its development, and a thinker for its transformation. The Institute aims to provide valuable opinions and suggestions in telling the Wanning story well and helping to enhance Wanning’s cultural soft power.
Members of the National Conditions Research expert group from the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, as well as cadres and staff from the Municipal Party Committee’s Propaganda Department and the Municipal Party School [8], attended the inauguration ceremony.
Following the ceremony, Yang Zhibin held a symposium with the expert group from the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies.
