Call for Papers: 2021 National Forum on the Basic Principles of Marxism
The discipline of Basic Tenets of Marxism is a designated Priority Discipline of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) (led by Professor Cheng Enfu and Research Fellow Yu Bin) and a Beijing Municipal Key Discipline of the School of Marxism at the China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) (approved in 2012). The "National Seminar on the Basic Tenets of Marxism" series aims to facilitate mutual exchange and the presentation of achievements among experts and scholars engaged in the research and teaching of the basic tenets of Marxism, with the goal of promoting the classical inheritance, innovation, and development of these tenets.
The 2021 National Seminar on the Basic Tenets of Marxism is jointly organized by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, the editorial department of World Socialism Studies (Shijie shehuizhuyi yanjiu), the Beijing Collaborative Innovation Center for the Theory of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (CUPL), the Disciplinary Office of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), the Center for Innovative Marxism Research, and the NPU School of Marxism. The seminar is scheduled to be held on November 5, 2021, at Northwestern Polytechnical University (Xi’an, Shaanxi). We sincerely invite colleagues from the national academic community to participate and engage in exchange.
The theme of this seminar is: "Marxist Theory of Modernization and the Centennial Practice of the Communist Party of China." Specific topics include: (1) The application and development of the basic tenets of Marxism by the Communist Party of China over the past century; (2) The Sinicization and popularization [1] of the basic tenets of Marxism since the founding of the Party; (3) Thematic research on the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the Marxist theory of modernization; (4) Frontier theoretical research and the scientific application of the basic tenets of Marxism; and so forth.
The seminar operates on the principle of "participation based on submission." Experts and scholars intending to attend are requested to write papers centered on the conference theme. Paper formatting should refer to the submission requirements of the journal Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi yanjiu). Following the conference, we will select outstanding papers for recommendation to journals such as Marxism Studies, Journal of Political Economy (Zhengzhi jingjixue yanjiu), Contemporary Economic Research (Dangdai jingji yanjiu), and World Socialism Studies. The deadline for paper submissions is September 25, 2021.
