On December 25, 2021, the "Theoretical Seminar on Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the Spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s Important Speech at the Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China" was held in Beijing and Nanchang, Jiangxi. It was organized by the School of Marxism at Jiangxi Normal University and the Department of Research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era within the CASS IMS. The meeting was conducted through a combination of online and offline formats. Jiang Hui—Vice President and Member of the Party Leadership Group of CASS, Director of the Institute of Contemporary China, and Director of the IMS—and Zhou Lisheng, Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University, delivered opening addresses. The opening ceremony was chaired by Researcher Xin Xiangyang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the CASS IMS.
Address by Jiang Hui, Vice President and Member of the Party Leadership Group of CASS, Director of the Institute of Contemporary China, and Director of the IMS
In his address, Jiang Hui pointed out that this forum focuses on two major topics: the "Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee" [1] and "General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China." The aim is to conduct in-depth research into Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and to contribute wisdom to the research, interpretation, and promotion of Contemporary Chinese Marxism and 21st-century Marxism. He noted that this represents another important academic celebration between CASS and the higher education front. Jiang Hui emphasized that in studying the Party’s century-long history, we must: first, deeply study the major achievements and historical experience of the Party’s century of struggle to accurately grasp the historical pulse, gain insight into historical laws, strengthen historical confidence [2], coalesce ideological consensus, and stimulate the strength to forge ahead; second, deeply study the significance of the creation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and its realization of a new historical leap [3] in the Sinicization of Marxism; third, profoundly recognize the decisive significance of the Two Establishments for the development of the Party and state undertakings in the New Era and for advancing the historical process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Address by Zhou Lisheng, Vice President of Jiangxi Normal University
In his address, Zhou Lisheng introduced the long history and current status of Jiangxi Normal University. He focused on the excellent achievements of the School of Marxism at Jiangxi Normal University under the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the University Party Committee, particularly noting that the discipline of Marxist Theory received an "A" rating in the Ministry of Education’s fourth round of discipline evaluation, one of only four such ratings in Jiangxi. Zhou Lisheng emphasized that we must effectively strengthen our political, ideological, and behavioral consciousness [4] in studying and implementing the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, striving to ensure these spirits go deep into the hearts of the people. Finally, Zhou Lisheng wished the conference complete success.

Exchange Between the Two Venues via the Cloud
Although the "cloud" meeting could not realize face-to-face communication, it simultaneously broke through spatial limitations. More than 300 experts, scholars, and graduate students from universities and research institutes across the country—including Peking University, Tsinghua University, CASS, the Central Party School of the CPC, Wuhan University, Southeast University, and Lanzhou University—attended the seminar. Representatives from important academic journals such as Marxist Studies (Ma-ke-si-zhu-yi Yan-jiu) and World Socialism Studies (Shi-jie She-hui-zhu-yi Yan-jiu) also participated. The scholars participated actively, spoke with enthusiasm, and engaged in deep reflection. The combination of online and offline formats enhanced the collision of ideas among scholars and expanded the academic influence and communicative role of the conference.
