The Research Department of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics Conducts "Academic Micro-Salon" Seminar Activities

To implement the requirements of the Party Committee of the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) regarding the conduct of academic activities on designated return-to-office days for researchers, and to enhance academic exchange and cooperation among research personnel, the Office for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics [1]—housed within the Department of Marxist Sinicization Studies—has explored and designed a seminar format titled the "Academic Micro-Salon." On March 3, 2022, the Office for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics held its inaugural "Academic Micro-Salon" activity.

Members of the Office for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics participated in the "Academic Micro-Salon" seminar activity.

The lead speaker for this inaugural "Academic Micro-Salon" was Shen Yang, Director of the Office for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics. Staff from the office attended the event, and He Xinyuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Marxist Sinicization Studies, provided guidance throughout the proceedings.

He shared his insights on key issues and elaborated on the format, thematic selection, and agenda setting for the "Academic Micro-Salon" seminars. Following the thematic presentation, members of the research office engaged in deep and extensive discussions on the primary topics. Going forward, the Office for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics will continue to conduct "Academic Micro-Salon" activities, gradually forming a normalized and long-term mechanism [2]. On the basis of enriching the activity formats, the office will promote the transformation of seminar results into tangible outputs, striving to create a body of academic work based on the unique characteristics of this office and department. This effort aims to assist in the construction of the disciplinary, academic, and discourse systems [3] of the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and to continuously increase the intensity of research into the deep integration of basic theory and applied countermeasures.
