Call for Papers: The 10th Marxism Philosophy Forum of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
To deeply study, research, and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee [1], to deepen academic research into the successful experiences of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, to consolidate and expand the achievements of Party history study and education, to promote the innovation and development of Marxist theory, and to welcome the victorious convening of the 20th Party Congress, the 10th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Marxist Philosophy Forum is scheduled to be held in Beijing from May 20 to 22, 2022. The forum is co-sponsored by the Institute of Marxism Studies at CASS, the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS), and Beijing International Studies University (BISU). It is jointly organized by the School of Marxism at UCASS, the School of Marxism at BISU, the School of Cultural Communication at BISU, and the "International Communication of the Chinese Path" Studio, with the editorial department of Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi yanjiu) serving as co-organizer. The theme of the forum is "Philosophical Innovation in the New Leap in the Sinicization of Marxism."
The CASS Marxist Philosophy Forum is one of the series of forums under the CASS Marxist Theory Discipline Construction and Theoretical Research Project. It is an authoritative forum in the field of Marxist philosophical research, aiming to strengthen exchanges among scholars in the field across the country and to promote the in-depth development of Marxist philosophical research. The forum operates under a chairperson responsibility system, with the renowned Marxist theorist and thinker Professor Hou Huiqin serving as the Forum Chair. Established in 2013 and held annually, it has become one of the most influential national forums in the field of Marxist philosophical research.
The forum follows a "submission-based invitation" system. Please focus on the theme of this year's forum and conduct research on topics such as the philosophical innovation in the New Leap in the Sinicization of Marxism, Marxist philosophy amidst the world’s profound changes unseen in a century [2], and the new developments of Marxist philosophy in the New Era. Suggested research topics include:
- Research on the hundred-year course and experience of the Sinicization of Marxist philosophy.
- Marxist philosophy amidst the world’s profound changes unseen in a century.
- New developments of Marxist philosophy in the New Era.
- Philosophical reflections on the New Leap in the Sinicization of Marxism.
- Philosophical innovation in the New Leap in the Sinicization of Marxism.
- Research on Marxist philosophy and the ideological construction of the Communist Party of China.
- Research on the philosophical foundations of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourses on education.
- Research on the construction of the disciplinary system of Marxist philosophy in the context of the New Era.
- Research on the hundred-year inheritance and exploration of Marxist dialectics in China.
- Research on the new developmental stage of the Marxist theory of social contradictions.
Submissions should select a specific title based on the forum theme and the aforementioned suggested topics, adhering to the correct political orientation and academic direction. Papers must be unpublished research results and comply with academic norms. The length of the paper should generally not exceed 10,000 words (including notes), accompanied by 3–5 keywords and an abstract of no more than 300 words. Citations and historical materials must be accurate and rigorous, with sources indicated (please refer to the format of Marxist Studies). The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2022. After the papers pass the preliminary selection, the forum preparatory group will issue invitation letters to the selected authors by May 10.
