Call for Papers: The 14th National Forum for Deans of Marxist Schools

The year 2022 is a pivotal year for the Communist Party of China (CPC) to lead the people of the whole nation in embarking on a new journey toward the comprehensive building of a modern socialist country, having achieved the First Centenary Goal [1]. To thoroughly implement the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee; to conduct in-depth research and interpretation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; and to deepen the study of theoretical and practical issues—such as contemporary Chinese Marxism, 21st-century Marxism, the essence of Chinese culture and the Chinese spirit in our times, and how Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era has achieved a new leap in the Sinicization of Marxism [2]—and to welcome the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress, the "14th National Forum for Deans of Marxist Studies" will be held. Co-hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Jilin University, and jointly organized by the School of Marxism of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the School of Marxism of Jilin University, the forum is scheduled for mid-to-late July 2022 at Jilin University. The theme of the forum is "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era: A New Leap in the Sinicization of Marxism."

This forum will closely revolve around the conference theme, with a focus on discussing the following topics:

  1. The scientific connotation of how Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era achieved a new leap in the Sinicization of Marxism.
  2. The major theoretical contributions of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in achieving a new leap in the Sinicization of Marxism.
  3. The major practical significance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in achieving a new leap in the Sinicization of Marxism.
  4. The scientific connotation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as contemporary Chinese Marxism and 21st-century Marxism.
  5. The major theoretical and practical significance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the essence of Chinese culture and the Chinese spirit in our times.
  6. The original contributions of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to the theory of scientific socialism.
  7. The original contributions of the new path of Chinese-path modernization to Marxist theory.
  8. The major contributions of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era to the development of world socialism.
  9. The original contributions of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era to the creation of a new form of human civilization.
  10. The world-historical significance [3] of the new form of human civilization.
  11. Research on several major theoretical and practical issues in anticipation of the 20th CPC National Congress.

We now cordially invite teaching and research personnel from national research institutions, institutions of higher education, and Party and government departments to actively submit manuscripts. Manuscript requirements:

  1. Correct political stance, clear theme, rigorous logic, and the integration of history with theory [4]; the work should reflect academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical and practical value.
  2. Papers must be newly written and unpublished works of no fewer than 8,000 words. The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 300 words) and keywords (3–5), with an author biography and detailed contact information appended at the end.

This forum adopts the "admission by paper" method. The submission deadline for papers is May 30, 2022. Please send the electronic version of the paper as a WORD document to the email address: mnsh2019@163.com (Contact: Teacher Yang, Institute of Marxism Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences). After the submitted papers have been selected by the expert review committee, official invitation letters will be sent to the selected participants by June 20. Outstanding papers will be recommended to journals such as Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu) and World Socialism Studies (Shijie Shehuizhuyi Yanjiu).
