Research Office for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics Holds 4th "Academic Micro-Salon" Seminar
On April 20, 2022, the Research Office for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, under the Department of Sinicization of Marxism Studies, held its fourth "Academic Micro-Salon" seminar. This session continued the fundamental format of previous events, conducting integrated research and mutual-aid discussions by blending the specific research directions of the office members with major academic projects. The fourth "Academic Micro-Salon" featured Meng Qingyou as the keynote speaker and was attended by all members of the Research Office. He Xinyuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Sinicization of Marxism Studies, provided strong support for the regular convening of these seminars and offered guidance for this specific session.
Meng Qingyou delivered a detailed report and in-depth explanation titled "The Characteristics of Independence and Self-Reliance in the Rule of Law under the Leadership of the Party." He elucidated his perspectives by examining the challenges faced by the rule of law in modern China, the correlation between the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the independent characteristics of China’s rule of law, and the fundamental stages and internal logic of legal construction in China. In particular, he conducted an in-depth analysis of the historical significance and practical value of adhering to the principle of independence and self-reliance [1] in Chinese legal construction, analyzed the deep-seated roots of the autonomy of China's legal development, and cited various examples to elaborate on this issue in a flexible and vivid manner.
Following the presentation, members of the Research Office engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions surrounding the core topic and related themes. Qin Yicheng, Chen Yalian, Peng Haihong, and Yang Binbin spoke in succession, unanimously affirming the theme of the session and offering suggestions regarding the significance of the paper's selection and the priorities for revising existing research results.
Shen Yang, Director of the Research Office, shared insights on the salon’s theme, offering specific revision suggestions from the perspective of the research background and the article's structure. He argued that the work should further focus on core issues to reflect a response to practical, real-world problems. He Xinyuan, Deputy Director of the Department, provided a critique and shared his views, fully affirming the significance of examining the process of China’s rule of law through the lens of independence and self-reliance. He proposed several revision suggestions regarding structural adjustments, logical streamlining, and discursive expression. Furthermore, he offered recommendations for promoting the long-term development of the "Academic Micro-Salon" seminars, accelerating the transformation of related findings into academic outputs, and expanding the research directions of the office members.
Through this event, the members of the office further recognized the value of the "Academic Micro-Salon" seminars. They concluded that not only did the keynote speaker receive substantial feedback for revisions, but the focused yet divergent discussions on a core theme provided heuristic inspiration for every member. In the future, the Research Office for the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics will further enrich the content, innovate the forms, and refine the mechanisms of these activities. By integrating academic resources and team strengths, the office will continue to deepen basic theoretical research, advance studies on frontier topics, and focus on major applied policy research, thereby continuously improving the overall research capacity of the office through mutual assistance and mutual learning.
