Call for Papers: Academic Forum on "The Successful Experience of the CPC’s Century-Long Struggle and the Sinicization of Marxism"

Dear Experts and Scholars,

In order to welcome the successful opening of the Party's 20th National Congress, to deeply study and implement the spirit of the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee [1], to deepen the theoretical research, publicity, and interpretation of the glorious century-long journey of the Sinicization of Marxism, and to strengthen academic exchange among researchers of the Sinicization of Marxism and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics nationwide, it is planned that the academic forum "Successful Experience of the CPC's Century of Struggle and the Sinicization of Marxism" will be held in Qingdao, Shandong, from July 1–3, 2022. The convening of the forum will be determined based on changes in the pandemic situation.

The forum is jointly organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the Qingdao University of Technology. The theme of the forum is "Successful Experience of the CPC's Century of Struggle and the Sinicization of Marxism." Combined with the spirit of the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee, this forum will continuously deepen the understanding of the "Two Establishments" [2] and the "Two Combinations" [3]. Focusing on the glorious journey and historical experience of the Communist Party of China’s century of struggle, the forum will further explore the essential laws, contemporary manifestations, and innovative connotations of the Sinicization of Marxism. It aims to accumulate reference materials for continuing forward along the path of Chinese-path modernization and for the better development of a new form of human civilization.

The forum is hosted by the Department of Research on the Sinicization of Marxism of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, the School of Marxism at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the School of Marxism at Qingdao University of Technology. It is co-organized by journals and magazines including Marxist Studies (Mǎkèsīzhǔyì Yánjiū), World Socialist Studies (Shìjiè Shèhuìzhǔyì Yánjiū), Frontline (Qiánxiàn) (published by the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC), and Shandong Social Sciences (Shāndōng Shèhuì Kēxué).

We are now soliciting academic papers from across the nation and welcome experts, scholars, teachers, and other researchers in the fields of the Sinicization of Marxism and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics to attend the conference with their submissions. The relevant matters for paper solicitation are notified as follows:

I. Forum Theme: "Successful Experience of the CPC's Century of Struggle and the Sinicization of Marxism"

II. Forum Time: July 1–3, 2022 (Specific dates may change according to the national pandemic prevention and control situation)

III. Forum Location: Qingdao, Shandong Province

IV. Relevant Instructions: The conference does not charge a registration fee. The organizers will cover meal expenses during the conference; transportation and accommodation expenses are to be borne by the participants.

V. Conference Format: The conference will adopt a combined "online + offline" format based on the pandemic prevention and control situation.

VI. Paper Writing and Submission Requirements:

  1. Manuscript Requirements: Adhere to the correct political direction, stay close to the theme, use detailed materials and sufficient reasoning, and highlight academic rigor. Submissions must be the result of independent research and have not been previously published. The length should ideally be 6,000–9,000 characters, accompanied by 3–5 keywords and a content abstract within 300 characters. Citations and historical materials must be accurate and rigorous, with sources noted (please refer to the format of Shandong Social Sciences). Please attach a brief author biography, email address, contact telephone number, and WeChat ID at the end of the text.
  2. Submission Method: Please send the electronic version of the paper (WORD version: School Name + Name + Article Title + Sinicization Forum) to the email address: mkszyzgh2022@163.com. Please do not send hard-copy papers.
  3. Deadline: June 10, 2022. After a preliminary selection by the Forum Preparatory Group, experts will be organized to review the papers. Before the end of June, selected authors will be invited to join a WeChat workgroup, where formal conference invitations will be issued.
