Notice of the 2022 National Forum on Basic Principles of Marxism

The discipline of Basic Principles of Marxism is a designated Priority Discipline of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), led by Professor Cheng Enfu and Research Fellow Yu Bin. The "National Symposium on the Basic Principles of Marxism" series aims to facilitate exchange and the demonstration of scholarly achievements among experts and scholars engaged in the research and teaching of the basic principles of Marxism, with the objective of promoting the classical inheritance, innovation, and development of these principles.

The 2022 National Symposium on the Basic Principles of Marxism is jointly organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies at CASS, the editorial department of World Socialism Studies (《世界社会主义研究》), the Beijing Collaboration and Innovation Center for the Research of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics (China University of Political Science and Law), the School of Marxism at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), and the NUAA Base of the Jiangsu Center for the Study of the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics [1]. The conference is scheduled to be held on November 5–6, 2022. We sincerely invite colleagues from the national academic community to participate and exchange ideas.

The theme of this year’s symposium is: "The Basic Principles of Marxism and the Study of the Spirit of the 20th National Congress [2]." Specific topics include: (1) The 20th National Congress Report on thoughts regarding economic construction in the New Era; (2) The 20th National Congress Report on thoughts regarding political construction in the New Era; (3) The 20th National Congress Report on thoughts regarding cultural construction in the New Era; (4) The 20th National Congress Report on thoughts regarding social construction in the New Era; (5) The 20th National Congress Report on thoughts regarding ecological civilization [3] construction in the New Era; (6) The contemporary application of the basic principles of Marxism; (7) The disciplinary development of the basic principles of Marxism; (8) The basic principles of Marxism and the development of the "Great Course on Ideological and Political Theory [4]."

The symposium operates on the principle of "participation based on submission." Experts and scholars wishing to attend are requested to write papers revolving around the conference theme. Paper formatting should refer to the requirements of the journal Marxism Studies (《马克思主义研究》). Following the conference, we will select outstanding papers to recommend to journals such as Marxism Studies, Journal of Political Economy (《政治经济学研究》), Contemporary Economic Research (《当代经济研究》), and World Socialism Studies. The deadline for paper submissions is October 25, 2022.
