Call for Papers: Academic Forum on "Deeply Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC"

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was a convention of paramount importance, held at a critical moment as the entire Party and the people of all ethnic groups throughout the country embark on a new journey toward building a socialist modernized country in all respects and advance toward the Second Centenary Goal [1]. To deeply comprehend the profound significance of the 20th National Congress, to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress, to systematically research and interpret Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and to enhance academic exchange among nationwide researchers of Marxist theory and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the academic forum “Deeply Studying and Implementing the Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC,” co-hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Jiangnan University, is scheduled to be held at Jiangnan University from December 2 to 4, 2022. We are now soliciting papers from academic colleagues across the country and welcome participation through paper submission.

I. Forum Theme: Deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC

II. Forum Time and Venue: Forum Time: December 2 to 4, 2022. Specifically: registration on December 2, formal sessions on December 3, and departure on December 4. (Specific times may be subject to change based on the national COVID-19 prevention and control situation.) Forum Venue: Jiangnan University

III. Forum Topics:

  1. Major theoretical and practical issues of the 20th National Congress of the CPC
  2. Research on the new leap in the Sinicization of Marxism
  3. Research on the “Two Combinations” [2] of the Sinicization of Marxism
  4. Research on the evolutionary logic of the path of Chinese-path modernization
  5. Research on upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics
  6. Research on building a socialist modernized country in all respects
  7. Research on issues related to comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation
  8. Research on the original contributions of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era
  9. Research on contemporary Chinese Marxism and 21st-century Marxism
  10. Research on the epochal connotations and global significance of the new form of human civilization

IV. Submission Requirements: The forum adopts a submission-based invitation system. We sincerely invite teaching and research personnel from national scientific research institutions, institutions of higher learning, Party and government departments, and other units to actively contribute. Deadline: November 15, 2022. Manuscript Requirements:

  1. The submission must maintain a correct political stance, feature a clear theme and rigorous logic, and integrate historical analysis with theoretical discourse [3]. It should reflect academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical and practical value;
  2. Papers must be original, unpublished works of no less than 8,000 words. Please use footnotes; the specific format should follow the publication standards of Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi yanjiu). The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approximately 300 words), keywords (3–5), a brief author biography, and detailed contact information.

No conference fees will be charged for this forum. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses during the meeting. Following evaluation by a committee of expert judges, the organizing committee will issue formal invitation letters to selected authors before November 15. The conference will also select outstanding papers for recommended publication in Marxism Studies and World Socialism Studies (Shijie shehuizhuyi yanjiu).
