Call for Papers: Academic Symposium on the "Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and Opening a New Frontier in Adapting Marxism to the Chinese Context and the Needs of the Times"

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was a convention of supreme importance, held at a critical moment when the entire Party and the people of all ethnic groups across the country are embarking on a new journey to build a modern socialist country in all respects and advancing toward the Second Centenary Goal [1]. The Congress held high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics; adhered to Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, the Theory of Three Represents, and the Scientific Outlook on Development; and fully implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. It analyzed the international and domestic situations, reviewed and summarized the work of the past five years and the great transformations of the ten years of the New Era, and expounded on major issues such as opening up new realms in the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism, as well as the Chinese features and essential requirements of Chinese-path modernization. It drew up a grand blueprint for building a modern socialist country in all respects and comprehensively advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The Congress pointed out the direction and established the guide for action for the development of the Party and the state's undertakings and the realization of the Second Centenary Goal on the new journey of the New Era. It is the crystallization of the wisdom of the Party and the people, a political declaration and program of action for the Party to unite and lead the people of all ethnic groups in winning new victories for socialism with Chinese characteristics, and a programmatic document of Marxism.

A new journey and a new mission require new responsibilities and new achievements. In order to deeply study and comprehend the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, and particularly to engage in in-depth discussion on issues related to advancing and opening up new realms in the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism—thereby enabling us to consciously and fully implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, carry forward the great founding spirit of the Party [2], maintain confidence and build strength, uphold the fundamentals and break new ground, forge ahead with enterprise and fortitude [3], and strive in unity to build a modern socialist country in all respects and comprehensively advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation—the Institute of Contemporary Chinese Thought and Culture (affiliated with the School of Marxism at Shenzhen University), jointly established by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Shenzhen University, intends to convene an academic symposium in early December of this year titled "The Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and Opening Up New Realms in the Sinicization and Modernization of Marxism."
