Call for Papers: The 31st Annual Conference of the Chinese Association for the History of Foreign Economic Theories

The year 2023 marks the inaugural year for fully implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and is a crucial transitional year for the implementation of the "14th Five-Year Plan" [1]. In order to uphold and develop Chinese and foreign Marxist economics, to conduct in-depth research on foreign economic theories in close connection with the economic development of China and the world, to promote the study, publicity, and research of the spirit of the 20th National Congress, and to further sound the clarion call of the times to forge ahead on a new journey, the Chinese Society of Foreign Economic Theories and Nanjing Normal University will jointly host the 31st Annual Academic Meeting of the Chinese Society of Foreign Economic Theories. The meeting is organized by the Center for Marxist Economic and Social Development Research of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the Department of Marxist Principles of the Institute of Marxism Studies at CASS, and the School of Business at Nanjing Normal University. It is scheduled to be held in Nanjing on April 8–9, 2023.

I. Forum Themes and Topics The conference will focus on the following topics, but is not limited to:

  1. Research on the evolution of foreign economic thought and mainstream theories under the Great Changes Unseen in a Century [2].
  2. Research on contemporary foreign Marxist economic thought and its major schools.
  3. Research on Xi Jinping Economic Thought and its international dissemination.
  4. Research on the Marxist theory of labor value in the context of artificial intelligence.
  5. Theoretical and policy research on constructing a high-level socialist market economy system.
  6. Research on the economic thought of Chinese-path modernization and its international dissemination.
  7. Theoretical and practical research on current international income distribution and industrial evolution.
  8. Research on Marxist economics and China’s strategy for expanding domestic demand.
  9. Research on safeguarding national economic security and improving theories and policies for anti-sanctions and anti-interference.

II. Review and Recommendations We are now calling for papers on the above topics from colleagues nationwide. Papers are required to take Marxist economics as their guide, focus on the study of foreign economic theories, adhere to academic writing standards, and demonstrate academic innovation. Following the review process, we will issue invitation letters to the authors of selected papers. Selected papers will be compiled into a proceedings volume published by China Economic Publishing House. The conference will recommend outstanding papers to journals such as Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu), Economic Perspectives (Jingjixue Dongtai), Studies in Political Economy (Zhengzhijingjixue Yanjiu), Contemporary Economic Research (Dangdai Jingji Yanjiu), and Shanghai School of Economics (Haipai Jingjixue) (quarterly).
