Call for Papers: The 9th Forum on the Theory and Practice of Governing Party Building

In order to deeply study, publicize, and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and to profoundly grasp the mission and tasks of the CPC on the new journey in the New Era, the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Chongqing University will jointly host the "Ninth Forum on Governing Party Building Theory and Practice" in Chongqing from April 15 to 17, 2023. We cordially invite colleagues from academia and Party affairs workers [1] to submit papers on the forum’s theme and find time in their busy schedules to attend the seminar.

I. Theme of the Conference Self-revolution and comprehensively and strictly governing the Party.

II. Specific Topics

  1. Further advancing the new great project of Party building [2] in the New Era.
  2. Promoting comprehensively and strictly governing the Party as a long-term strategy and eternal subject for the Party.
  3. Upholding and strengthening the centralized, unified leadership of the Party Central Committee.
  4. Persisting in using Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to solidify the soul and concentrate the spirit [3].
  5. Improving the system of institutional norms for the Party’s self-revolution.
  6. Cultivating a high-quality cadre workforce capable of shouldering the heavy responsibility of national rejuvenation.
  7. Enhancing the political and organizational functions of Party organizations.
  8. Persisting in strengthening the rectification of conduct and the enforcement of discipline [4] with a rigorous tone.
  9. Resolutely winning the tough and protracted battle of the anti-corruption struggle.
  10. Research on other aspects of Party building.

III. Time and Venue (1) Time: Registration on April 15 (Saturday), Conference on April 16 (Sunday), Departure on April 17 (Monday). (2) Venue: Chongqing University.

V. Other Matters

  1. The forum does not charge a conference fee. Participants shall bear their own round-trip transportation and accommodation costs. Hard-copy invitation letters should be collected on-site after the conference concludes on the afternoon of April 16.
  2. Please send papers and the conference participation receipt (see attachment) to the email address djcass@sina.com by March 31, 2023. The organizing committee will send official invitations based on the quality of the manuscripts.
  3. Attendance is based on paper submission; selected papers will be compiled for publication or recommended to relevant core journals after the forum. The electronic filename should be "Author Name + University (Unit) + Article Title." Submissions should involve a self-selected title and perspective surrounding the forum’s theme. It is imperative to maintain the correct political and academic orientation. Papers must be unpublished research results, ideally between 6,000 and 10,000 words. Please use Word software for formatting, include 3–5 keywords and an abstract of up to 300 words. Citations should use footnotes at the bottom of the page, renumbered on each page. For specific details, please refer to the publication format of the journal Marxist Studies. Please include a brief author biography, professional title, position, contact number, and email address at the end of the text.
  4. In the event of special circumstances, the forum schedule may be adjusted accordingly. Applicants are requested to stay in contact with the organizers.
