Call for Papers: The 9th Forum on the Theory and Practice of Governing Party Building

In order to deeply study, publicize, and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC [1], and to profoundly grasp the mission and tasks of the Communist Party of China on the new journey of the New Era, the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Chongqing University will jointly host the "Ninth Forum on the Theory and Practice of Governing Party Building" in Chongqing from April 15 to 17, 2023. We sincerely invite colleagues from the academic community and Party workers [2] to write papers centered on the forum’s theme and to take the time to attend the seminar.

I. Conference Theme Self-revolution and comprehensively and strictly governing the Party

II. Specific Topics

  1. Deeply advancing the new great project of Party building [3] in the New Era.
  2. Treating comprehensively and strictly governing the Party as a long-term strategy and eternal task for the Party.
  3. Persisting in and strengthening the centralized, unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee.
  4. Persistently using Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to solidify the soul and unify the mind [4].
  5. Improving the system of institutional norms for the Party's self-revolution.
  6. Building a high-quality cadre corps capable of shouldering the heavy responsibility of national rejuvenation.
  7. Enhancing the political and organizational functions of Party organizations.
  8. Persisting in the strict keynote to strengthen the rectification of conduct and the enforcement of discipline [5].
  9. Resolutely winning the tough and protracted battle of the anti-corruption struggle.
  10. Research on other aspects of Party building.

V. Miscellaneous Matters

  1. The forum does not charge a conference fee; participants are responsible for their own round-trip transportation and accommodation costs. Physical invitation letters should be collected on-site after the conclusion of the meeting on the afternoon of April 16.
  2. Please send papers and the conference participation receipt (see the attachment to this notice) to the email address djcass@sina.com by March 31, 2023. The conference organizing committee will send out formal invitations based on the quality of the submissions.
  3. Participation in the forum is based on the submission of a paper. Following the conference, selected papers will be published in a collection or recommended to relevant core journals. The electronic file of the paper should be named "Author Name + University (Unit) + Article Title." Submissions should focus on the theme with a self-selected title and perspective, and must strictly adhere to the correct political direction and academic orientation. Papers must be original research results that have not been publicly published, with a length preferably between 6,000 and 10,000 words. Please format documents using Word software, include 3–5 keywords and an abstract of no more than 300 words. Citations should use footnotes at the bottom of the page, with numbering restarting on each page. Specifically, please follow the publication format of the journal Marxism Studies. At the end of the text, please include a brief author biography, professional title, position, contact phone number, and email address.
  4. In case of special circumstances, the forum schedule may be adjusted accordingly. Applicants are requested to maintain timely contact with the organizers.
