Call for Papers: The 10th Scientific Socialism Forum of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences

To deeply study, research, and interpret Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC [1], and to conduct in-depth discussions on the key, hot, and focal issues in the field of scientific socialism while enhancing academic exchange among scientific socialism researchers nationwide, the 10th Scientific Socialism Forum of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) is scheduled to be held from June 9 to 11, 2023, at Jiangsu University. The forum is jointly organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies at CASS, Jiangsu University, and the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS). It is co-hosted by the Department of Marxism Sinicization Research at the Institute of Marxism Studies (CASS), the School of Marxism at Jiangsu University, the School of Marxism at UCASS, and the Common Prosperity Research Institute at Jiangsu University. We are now soliciting papers from academic colleagues across the country and warmly welcome your contributions and participation.

I. Forum Theme Extending the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation on all Fronts through Chinese-path Modernization

II. Time and Venue Forum Time: June 9–11, 2023. Registration on June 9 (Friday); official sessions on June 10 (Saturday); departure on June 11 (Sunday). Forum Venue: Jiangsu University, Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province.

III. Forum Topics

  1. The strategic overall situation of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the world's profound changes unseen in a century [2].
  2. The mission and tasks of the Communist Party of China on the new journey of the New Era.
  3. The Chinese characteristics, essential requirements, major principles, and significant relationships of Chinese-path modernization.
  4. The logical relationship between Chinese-path modernization and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
  5. Strategic arrangements for the comprehensive building of a great modern socialist country.
  6. The strategic layout for the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country.
  7. The logical relationship between Chinese-path modernization and the new form of human civilization [3].
  8. Contemporary Chinese Marxism and 21st-century Marxism.
  9. Research on major theoretical and practical issues of scientific socialism.
  10. New trends and characteristics in the development of contemporary world socialism.

IV. Submission Requirements This forum adopts a "participation based on submission" policy. We sincerely invite teaching staff, researchers, and graduate students from national research institutions, institutions of higher education, and Party and government departments to actively submit papers. Deadline: May 15, 2023. Paper Requirements:

  1. Submissions must maintain a correct political stance, feature a clear theme and rigorous logic, and combine historical perspective with theoretical analysis [4]. They should demonstrate academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical and practical value.
  2. Papers must be original, unpublished works, generally ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 characters. Please use footnotes; the specific format should follow the publication standards of Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu). The text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 300 characters), keywords (3–5), a brief author biography, and detailed contact information.

There is no registration fee for this forum. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses. Following selection by the expert review committee, the organizing committee will issue invitation letters to selected authors by May 31. Outstanding papers will be selected and recommended for publication in Marxism Studies and World Socialism Studies.
