Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Convenes Mobilization and Deployment Meeting for the Thematic Education on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era
China Social Science Net News: On April 14, 2023, the Institute of Marxism Studies (IMS) of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) convened a general staff meeting to study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech. The meeting conveyed the spirit of the speech delivered by Comrade Gao翔 (Gao Xiang), President and Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group of CASS, at the CASS Mobilization Conference for the Theme Education [1] on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The meeting served as a mobilization and deployment for the IMS to conduct the theme education in depth. Comrade Xin 向阳 (Xin Xiangyang), Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Institute of Marxism Studies, presided over the meeting and delivered the mobilization speech.
Xin Xiangyang pointed out that the in-depth development of the theme education on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era throughout the entire Party is a major deployment made by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. This initiative aims to fully implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and mobilize all Party comrades to unite in struggle to fulfill the Party’s central tasks. All Party members and cadres of the IMS must effectively raise their political standing and profoundly recognize the great significance of carrying out this theme education. They must earnestly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the Theme Education Work Conference, effectively strengthening their sense of political responsibility and historical mission in managing the theme education. They should uphold the "Two Establishments" and practice the "Two Upholds" through concrete actions.
Xin Xiangyang emphasized that in carrying out the theme education, it is necessary to accurately grasp the general requirements of "studying thought, strengthening Party spirit, emphasizing practice, and establishing new merits." It is essential to persist in the integration of study, thought, and application, and the unity of knowledge, belief, and action. One must stay closely anchored to the goals and tasks while fully implementing key measures. The key to conducting theme education lies in working hard to seek actual results. Theoretical study must "move the heart and enter the mind" (走心入心); one must settle their mind to study Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, comprehensively and systematically mastering its scientific system, core essence, and practical requirements. Investigation and research [2] must seek truth and reality, simplify forms, precisely select topics, conduct deep investigations, study with one's heart, and ensure the effective conversion and application of results, while resolutely preventing formalism. The establishment of rules and systems must be functional and effective, with greater emphasis on pertinence and systematicity, ensuring that various systems can stand firm, be implemented solidly, and endure over the long term. It is necessary to scientifically coordinate and grasp the rhythm, deepening and solidifying key tasks and measures to ensure that all theme education work is carried out with vivid character and advanced in a powerful and orderly manner.
Xin Xiangyang emphasized that to carry out this theme education well, the primary responsibility lies with the Party Committee, the key lies with leadership, and the focus lies with implementation. Members of the IMS leadership team must first manage their own education and set an example. All departments and Party branches of the IMS must lead from above to motivate those below. The theme education must be combined with the promotion of investigation and research and the advancement of scientific research work. Efforts should be made to strengthen the coordination and connection of work, advancing them in harmony to prevent "two skins" [3] (decoupling/fragmentation). Theoretical study, investigation and research, promoting development, and inspection and rectification must be managed in a unified manner. Hard work must be applied to compressing responsibility, seeking actual results, and consolidating expansion, so as to promote the detailed implementation of all tasks.
