Thoroughly Implement the Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and Open Up New Frontiers of Marxist Political Economy

In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC [1], study, publicize, and research Xi Jinping Economic Thought, promote the development and innovation of Marxist economics, and open up new frontiers in contemporary Chinese Marxist political economy, the "12th National Forum on Marxist Economics and the 13th National Youth Forum on Marxist Economics" will be held. The forum will take place in late September 2023 at Sichuan University. It is planned to adopt diverse forms of academic discussion, including keynote speeches, sub-forum reports, youth scholar dialogues, exchange meetings between heads of political economy disciplines and youth development, and exchange meetings between academic journals and youth scholars.

I. Forum Theme and Topics The theme of this forum is "Advancing the New Journey [2] of Comprehensively Building a Modern Socialist Country and Opening Up New Frontiers in Contemporary Chinese Marxist Political Economy." The forum will focus on, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  1. Research on classic theories of Marxist economics and the history of economic thought;
  2. Frontier research on foreign Marxist political economy;
  3. Research on Xi Jinping Economic Thought and its international dissemination;
  4. Research on the original contributions of Xi Jinping Economic Thought to 21st-century Marxist political economy;
  5. Research on the great changes unseen in a century [3] and new changes in contemporary capitalism;
  6. Research on the new round of scientific and technological revolution and innovation in Marxist economics;
  7. Political economy research on the digital economy;
  8. Research on Chinese-path modernization and common prosperity for all;
  9. Research on the new development landscape [4] and high-quality development;
  10. Research on building a high-level socialist market economy system and advancing high-level opening up to the outside world;
  11. Research on rural revitalization and coordinated regional development.

II. Submission Requirements We welcome submissions from researchers in national research institutions, higher education institutions, and Party and government departments. We encourage and support master's and doctoral students interested in Marxist economics to submit papers and attend. Submission requirements: (1) Papers must be previously unpublished, possess a degree of originality, and consist of no fewer than 8,000 words; (2) A separate cover page should precede the main text, listing the title, abstract, keywords, and author information (name, date of birth, affiliation, professional title/position, telephone number, email, etc.). Papers intended for consideration for the "Outstanding Achievement" award must include a plagiarism check report showing a duplication rate of no more than 15%. Submissions with incomplete information will not be accepted. The deadline for submission is June 15, 2023. Electronic versions of the papers should be sent simultaneously to both of the forum’s email addresses: bqm_2013@163.com (Liu Daoyi, Institute of Marxism Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences) and helilong2002@163.com (He Lilong, School of Economics, Sichuan University). The forum will hold a review meeting in mid-July 2023 to evaluate the submitted papers. The review panel will primarily consist of experts in the field, heads of core journals, members of the forum's executive committee, and members of the secretariat. Authors of selected papers will receive a formal invitation in early August. To encourage young scholars and students to devote themselves to the study and innovation of Marxist economics, this forum will conduct an "Outstanding Achievement" evaluation. Approximately 10 outstanding papers will be selected from the submissions, and recipients will be awarded honor certificates and prizes. Selected papers will be recommended to authoritative and core journals in the field of Marxist economics.
