Call for Papers: The 11th International Forum on the Communist Movement
The Report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC stated: "From this day forward, the central task of the Communist Party of China will be to lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in a concerted effort to realize the Second Centenary Goal [1] of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects and to advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through Chinese-path modernization." The year 2023 marks the opening year for the full implementation of the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC. Looking across the globe, the international landscape has undergone significant changes, which will exert a major influence on the international communist movement and world socialism. Against this backdrop, the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Yunnan University will co-host the 11th International Communist Movement Forum. Domestic experts and scholars, along with international counterparts from countries including Vietnam, Laos, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, and Japan, will be invited to participate in discussions and exchanges focused on the theme "The World Socialist Movement and Chinese-path Modernization in a New Period of Turbulence and Transformation." This forum aims to grasp the new dynamics in the development of the international communist movement and world socialism in a timely manner, while deepening the understanding of the interconnections between socialism with Chinese characteristics and world socialism. A new book launch will also be held during the forum. The relevant information for the conference is as follows:
I. Conference Theme The World Socialist Movement and Chinese-path Modernization in a New Period of Turbulence and Transformation
II. Time and Venue Time: Early July 2023, for a duration of two days. Venue: Yunnan University, Kunming, Yunnan Province.
III. Format A combination of online and offline participation.
IV. Conference Topics
- Theory and practice concerning modernization and socialist modernization.
- Chinese-path modernization in a comparative perspective.
- New progress in the reform and innovation of world socialist countries.
- New developments in the theory and practice of Communist Parties worldwide.
- New trends in the development of the international landscape in a new period of turbulence and transformation.
- New changes in the relationship between the two systems of socialism and capitalism.
- New changes in capitalism in a new period of turbulence and transformation.
V. Paper Submission Requirements Participation in the forum is based on paper submission. The organizers will arrange for experts to review the papers, and invitation letters will be sent to authors of selected papers. Outstanding papers will be recommended to the journals Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi yanjiu) and World Socialism Studies (Shijie shehuizhuyi yanjiu). Requirements: Submissions should adhere closely to the theme, maintain correct viewpoints, and emphasize scholarly rigor. The length should be kept within 10,000 characters and include a scholarly biography of the author, abstract, keywords, and contact information. The format should follow the requirements of the journal Marxist Studies. Papers should be sent to the conference email address (gjgylt2013@163.com) by June 10, with the email subject line "Author’s Name + Paper Title."
