Call for Papers for the National Theoretical Seminar on "Carrying Forward the Revolutionary Spirit and Inheriting the Red Gene: Studying and Implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's Important Expositions on Inheriting the Red Gene"
In order to deeply study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on the inheritance of red genes [1], continuously deepen the research and interpretation of the revolutionary spirit of Fang Zhimin [2], inherit red genes, and carry forward the red bloodline [3], the national theoretical seminar "Promoting the Revolutionary Spirit and Inheriting Red Genes" is scheduled to be held in mid-August 2023 at the Jiangxi Fang Zhimin Cadre College. We are now soliciting papers from all sectors across the country. The specific details are as follows:
I. Paper Selection Topics
- Research on General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions regarding the inheritance of red genes;
- Research on the scientific connotations and distinctive characteristics of the Great Founding Spirit of the Party [4];
- Research on the spiritual lineage of Chinese Communists [5];
- Research on Fang Zhimin’s historical status and contributions to the history of the Chinese Revolution;
- Research on the fundamental connotations and contemporary value of Fang Zhimin’s revolutionary spirit;
- Research on the history and status of the Fujian-Zhejiang-Jiangxi Soviet Area [6];
- Research on the paths for inheriting red genes in the New Era;
- Research on accelerating high-quality development in old revolutionary base areas [7];
- Other topics related to the theme of the seminar.
II. Organizing Units
- Hosts: Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), National Research Center for the Inheritance of Red Genes, Jiangxi Academy of Social Sciences, CPC Shangrao Municipal Committee, Shangrao Municipal People's Government.
- Organizers: Department of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era of the Institute of Marxism Studies (CASS), Publicity Department of the CPC Shangrao Municipal Committee, CPC Yiyang County Committee, Yiyang County People's Government, Jiangxi Fang Zhimin Cadre College.
III. Time and Location Time: August 12 (Saturday) to August 15 (Tuesday), 2023. Location: Jiangxi Fang Zhimin Cadre College.
IV. Participants Outstanding young and middle-aged experts, scholars, and doctoral students in relevant research fields nationwide will be invited through targeted commissions and thematic solicitations (approximately 40 people).
V. Requirements for Submission
- Adhere to a correct historical materialism and a correct view of Party history [8]; maintain a correct political orientation, clear stance, and correct viewpoints.
- Emphasize the integration of history and theory [9], utilize detailed historical materials, provide concise arguments, maintain rigorous logic, use fluent language, and adopt a simple and unadorned writing style.
- Demonstrate originality, comply with academic norms, and possess high academic, theoretical, and practical value. Submissions must be original works that have not been publicly published by the author.
- The length of the paper should be between 8,000 and 10,000 characters (including notes). The full text should include an abstract, keywords, body text, and footnotes. The author's name, unit, professional title (position), and contact information should be indicated at the end of the text.

VI. Submission Deadline From now until August 4, 2023.
VII. Other Matters
- The seminar will primarily adopt a combination of expert guidance, on-site teaching, and group discussions.
- After the submission deadline, the organizers will conduct a paper review and invite the authors of outstanding papers to participate in the seminar (for multi-authored papers, the first author will be invited or the authors may agree upon one representative). Participants are responsible for their own round-trip transportation costs; however, relevant expenses during the seminar will be borne by the organizers. Seminar participants will also receive a complimentary set of the Historical Material Archives of the Fujian-Zhejiang-Jiangxi Revolutionary Base Area (9 volumes in total, published by Central Compilation & Translation Press and Jiangxi People's Publishing House, 2023 edition).
- Following the conclusion of the seminar, selected papers will be organized and compiled into a collection. Outstanding papers will be actively recommended for publication in theoretical outlets such as Marxist Studies (Mǎkèsīzhǔyì Yánjiū), Jiangxi Social Sciences (Jiāngxī Shèhuì Kēxué), and Jiangxi Daily.
