Call for Papers: "Leadership of the Party and Chinese Modernization" Academic Forum and "Historical Experience of the Party's Century of Struggle Series" Book Launch Event

To deeply study, research, and interpret Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, systematically research and interpret the relationship between Party leadership and Chinese-path modernization, and enhance academic exchange among researchers of Marxist theory, the "Party Leadership and Chinese-path Modernization" Academic Forum and "Historical Experience of the Party's Century of Struggle Series" New Book Promotion Event will be held in Jinan on Saturday, July 29, 2023. This event is jointly hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Jinan Publishing House; organized by the Department of Sinicization of Marxism Research at the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, Jinan Publishing House, and the School of Marxism at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; and co-organized by journals including Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi yanjiu), World Socialism Studies (Shijie shehuizhuyi yanjiu), and Frontline (Qianxian) magazine of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC. We now invite academic paper submissions from across the country and welcome experts, scholars, and graduate students in research fields such as Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Marxism, the Sinicization of Marxism, and the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics to attend with their papers.

V. Remarks: No conference or catering fees will be charged. Transportation, accommodation, and book purchase costs during the meeting are to be borne by the participants (invoices will be provided for all). This academic forum is located at the main venue of the National Book Expo; participants may arrange their own time to visit the Expo free of charge during the event.

VI. Introduction to the 31st National Book Trading Expo (hereinafter "Book Expo"): The Jinan Book Expo will be held from July 27 to 31 at the Shandong International Convention and Exhibition Center (adjacent to Jinan West Railway Station). Under the theme "Advancing on the New Journey, Fragrant Books Nourishing China [1]," the Expo is hosted by the National Press and Publication Administration and the People’s Governments of Shandong Province and Jinan Municipality. It is organized by the Shandong Provincial Bureau of Press and Publication, the Linyi Municipal People’s Government, the Publicity Department of the Jinan Municipal CPC Committee, the Jinan Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Publishers Association of China, the Books and Periodicals Distribution Association of China, Shandong Publishing Group, and Jinan Publishing House. The main venue covers nearly 100,000 square meters across eight halls. Hall 3 features exhibitions of Beijing-based publishers (such as China Publishing Group) and Shandong publications; Halls 4 and 5 host provincial/regional delegations and green printing exhibitions; Halls 1 and 2 are dedicated to beneficiary sales and private book distribution displays; Hall 6 covers Rural Libraries [2], intangible cultural heritage, and art books; Halls 7 and 8 provide standard booths for private distributors. Sub-venues are set up in Linyi and Xinhua Bookstores across the province. This Book Expo focuses on creating a "Digital," "Beneficiary," "Public," and "Cultural" event, showcasing the fruitful results of high-quality development in China’s publishing industry in the New Era, promoting exchange, and striving for an efficient publishing gala with prominent themes and creative flair.

VII. Paper Writing and Submission Requirements:

  1. Manuscript Requirements: Adhere to the correct political direction, stay close to the theme, provide detailed materials, offer robust reasoning, and emphasize academic rigor. Submissions must be original research and previously unpublished. Length should ideally be 8,000–10,000 words, including 3–5 keywords and an abstract under 300 words. Citations and historical data must be accurate; please follow the format of Marxism Studies. Include an author profile, contact number, WeChat ID, and email at the end.
  2. Submission Method: Send the electronic version (Word: Name + Paper Title + Party Leadership and Chinese-path Modernization Forum) to the following email: ddldyzgsxdhlt2023@163.com. Please do not send hard copies.
  3. Deadline: July 22, 2023. Following a preliminary screening, the preparatory group will organize an expert review. Selected authors will be invited via WeChat by July 27.
