Call for Papers: Academic Forum on the "Two Combinations" and the Innovative Development of Marxism in the 21st Century
To deeply study and comprehend the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on the "Two Combinations" [1] and the building of a modern civilization for the Chinese nation; to systematically research and interpret Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; to explore in depth the key, hot-button, and focal issues regarding the "Two Combinations" and the innovative development of 21st-century Marxism; and to enhance academic exchange among researchers of Marxist theory and Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era across the country, the "Two Combinations and the Innovative Development of 21st-Century Marxism Academic Forum" will be held at Beijing Jiaotong University from December 1 to 3, 2023. The forum is co-hosted by the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS) and Beijing Jiaotong University, and co-organized by the School of Marxism at UCASS and the School of Marxism at Beijing Jiaotong University. We hereby solicit papers from academic colleagues nationwide and welcome your participation through submission.

II. Forum Time and Location Time: December 1–3, 2023. Registration on December 1 (Friday); formal sessions on December 2 (Saturday); departure on December 3 (Sunday). Location: Beijing · Beijing Jiaotong University

IV. Submission Requirements This forum adopts the method of "admission via paper." We sincerely invite faculty, researchers, and graduate students from national research institutions, institutions of higher education, and Party and government departments to actively submit contributions. Deadline: November 10, 2023 Manuscript Requirements:
- Submissions must maintain a correct political stance, feature a clear theme and rigorous logic, and combine historical analysis with theoretical discourse (shilun jiehe) [4]. They should reflect academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical significance and practical value.
- Papers must be original, unpublished works, generally between 8,000 and 12,000 words. Please use footnotes rather than endnotes, following the publication format of Marxist Studies (Makezhuyundyi Yanjiu). The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 300 words), keywords (3–5), a brief author biography, and detailed contact information.

No registration fee will be charged for this forum. Participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses during the meeting. Following selection by a committee of expert reviewers, the organizing committee will issue formal invitation letters to the authors of selected papers by November 20. Outstanding papers will be selected and recommended for publication in Marxist Studies and World Socialism Studies.
