2023 Meeting on the Development Trends of the International Communist Movement and the Editorial Committee of the Yellow Book of the International Communist Movement Held in Wuhu
On November 26, 2023, the Department of International Communist Movement Research at the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the School of Marxism at Wannan Medical College jointly held the "Conference on the 2023 Development Trends of the International Communist Movement and the Editorial Board of the International Communist Movement Yellow Book" [1] in Wuhu, Anhui Province. Attending scholars conducted research and discussions on new development trends in the international communist movement, while experts from the Steering Committee of the Yellow Book on the International Communist Movement provided guidance on the selected topics for the Yellow Book on the International Communist Movement (2023-2024). More than 20 participants attended the meeting, including experts, scholars, and several authors of the Yellow Book—such as Hu Zhenliang, Guo Qiang, Zhu Kexin, Xuan Chuanshu, Xu Qinfa, Yuan Qun, and Yu Weihai—representing institutions including the Central Party School of the CPC (National Academy of Governance) [2], the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Central China Normal University, Guangxi University, Shandong University, Liaoning University, Yunnan University, and Soochow University.
Professor Tao Tingma, Dean of the School of Marxism at Wannan Medical College, delivered the opening remarks. He fully affirmed the publication of the International Communist Movement Yellow Book and its social influence, expressing his hope for strengthened cooperation with the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in the future. Researcher Pan Jin’e, Director of the Department of International Communist Movement Research and Editor-in-Chief of the International Communist Movement Yellow Book, presided over the meeting. She introduced the thematic logic and primary topics for the 2023-2024 volume, emphasizing that this report will focus on the new development trends of the international communist movement and world socialism in 2023, set against the background of the accelerated evolution of the "changes unseen in a century" [3]. It will concentrate on reflecting the latest developments in Chinese-path modernization and its global influence, interpret the developmental characteristics of world socialist countries and communist parties across various nations, and provide an outlook for development trends in 2024. The attending experts and scholars engaged in discussions regarding the trends in the international communist movement. On this basis, they provided specific guidance for the topics of the Yellow Book on the International Communist Movement (2023-2024), broadening the perspective for the book's writing and further clarifying its thematic logic and structural framework.
In conclusion, Researcher Pan Jin’e stated that with the support of experts and scholars, the department will continue to compile the International Communist Movement Yellow Book with excellence, striving to contribute to the development of the discipline of international communist movement studies. She expressed sincere gratitude to the experts of the Steering Committee for their meticulous guidance and strong support over the years.
