Call for Papers: Academic Symposium on "Xi Jinping's Thought on Culture and the Building of a Culturally Powerful Nation"

Dear Distinguished Sir/Madam:

In order to thoroughly study, implement, and grasp Xi Jinping Thought on Culture; to comprehensively analyze and explicate its original viewpoints, core tenets, value orientations [1], developmental trajectory, and practical value; to profoundly understand the internal logic between Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and the construction of a socialist cultural powerhouse; to explore the functional positioning of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture in advancing the process of Chinese-path modernization; to open up and deepen new fields and directions in the study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era; and to further promote the development and innovation of 21st-century Marxism—the Department of Sinicized Marxism Research at the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), the School of Marxism at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the School of Marxism at Jiangnan University, and the Jiangnan University Theoretical Research Base for Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in Jiangsu Province, intend to jointly hold the academic symposium "Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and the Construction of a Cultural Powerhouse" on December 28, 2024, at Jiangnan University. We sincerely invite experts and scholars from relevant domestic fields to attend.

The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

I. Conference Topics:

  1. Research on the original contributions and historical significance of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture.
  2. Research on the theoretical characteristics and practical character of Xi Jinping Thought on Culture.
  3. Research on Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and the persistence of the Party’s cultural leadership.
  4. Research on the internal mechanism between Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and the construction of a cultural powerhouse.
  5. Philosophical grasp and theoretical interpretation of the "new cultural lifeform" [2].
  6. Research on institutional and mechanism innovation for the prosperity of cultural undertakings and cultural industries.
  7. Research on the "Second Combination" [3] and the subjectivity of Chinese culture.
  8. Research on the paths of inheritance for fine traditional Chinese culture.

II. Venue, Time, and Other Matters: Conference Dates: December 27 – December 29, 2024. Schedule: Registration on December 27, sessions on December 28, departure on December 29. Venue: School of Marxism, Jiangnan University, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province. Participants: Experts and scholars in Marxist theory and related disciplines, and authors of selected outstanding papers. Submission: Participants are requested to send the conference reply form (see attachment) and their paper to the email address 7232403008@stu.jiangnan.edu.cn before December 20, 2024. Please indicate the subject line as: "Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and the Construction of a Cultural Powerhouse Academic Symposium."

III. Paper Content and Formatting Requirements: The conference adopts the method of "admitting participants based on their papers." Experts and scholars are requested to write papers centering on the conference themes. Submitted papers must be original, unpublished scientific research results, complying with academic norms, ideally within 12,000 words, with a correct political orientation, objective and accurate historical facts, and high academic and theoretical value. For paper style and formatting, please refer to the submission format of Marxist Studies (Marxisimuxue Yanjiu). Please attach specific contact information at the end of the text, including the author's name, work unit, position/title, telephone number, email, and correspondence address.

IV. Related Costs This symposium does not charge any fees. The host will bear the catering costs for participants during the conference. Accommodation and round-trip transportation expenses are to be borne by the participants themselves.
