Call for Papers: The 12th CASS Scientific Socialism Forum & Mao Zedong Thought Forum

In order to deeply study, propagate, research, and interpret Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and to conduct an in-depth exploration of the rich connotations, internal logic, and contemporary value of the theory of Chinese-path modernization, as well as its major contributions to the development of scientific socialism in the 21st century, the 12th Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) Forum on Scientific Socialism & Forum on Mao Zedong Thought will be held from July 25 to 27, 2025, in Weihai City, Shandong Province. This forum aims to enhance academic exchange among scientific socialism researchers nationwide. It is jointly organized by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies and Shandong University, and co-organized by the Department of Research on the Sinicization of Marxism of the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, the School of Marxism at Shandong University, the School of Marxism at Shandong University (Weihai), and the School of Marxism at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS). We are now soliciting papers from colleagues in the national academic community and welcome all to attend the conference by submitting their work.

II. Forum Time and Location Forum Dates: July 25 to 27, 2025. Registration on July 25 (Friday); formal sessions on July 26 (Saturday); departure on July 27 (Sunday). Forum Location: Shandong University (Weihai), Weihai City, Shandong Province.

IV. Submission Requirements This forum adopts the method of "attending based on paper submission." We sincerely invite faculty, researchers, and graduate students from national research institutions, institutions of higher education, and Party and government departments to actively contribute. Deadline: July 10, 2025 Manuscript Requirements:

  1. Submissions must demonstrate a correct stance, a clear theme, rigorous logic, and the integration of history and theory [2]. They should reflect academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical and practical value.
  2. Papers must be original, unpublished works, generally ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 characters. Submissions should use footnotes at the bottom of the page, following the specific publication format of Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu). The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 300 characters), keywords (3–5), a brief author biography, and detailed contact information.

This forum does not charge a conference fee. Transportation and accommodation expenses during the meeting are to be borne by the participants. Following selection by the expert review committee, the organizing committee will issue conference invitation letters to selected authors by July 20. Outstanding papers will be selected and recommended for publication in Marxist Studies, World Socialism Studies, or Marxist Cultural Studies.
