Call for Papers: 2025 National Annual Conference on the Study of Marxist Principles

The "National Annual Conference on the Study of the Principles of Marxism" academic forum series, organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), aims to facilitate mutual exchange and the presentation of research findings among experts and scholars engaged in the study and teaching of the basic principles of Marxism. Its objective is to promote the persistent application, innovation, and development of these basic principles. In order to deeply learn and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and the Third Plenary Session of its 20th Central Committee [1], and to deepen the study of major theoretical and practical issues concerning artificial intelligence (AI) and Chinese-path modernization, the 2025 National Annual Conference on the Study of the Principles of Marxism will be co-hosted by the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL), and Chongqing University of Post and Telecommunications (CQUPT). The conference will be organized by the CQUPT School of Marxism and co-organized by the editorial departments of Marxism Studies (Markesizhuyi Yanjiu), World Socialism Studies (Shijie Shehuizhuyi Yanjiu), and Research on the Basic Theories of Marxism (Markesizhuyi Jiben Lilun Yanjiu). We sincerely invite colleagues from the national academic community to participate in this exchange.

Conference Theme: Artificial Intelligence and Chinese-path Modernization

Specific topics include, but are not limited to:

  1. Historical materialist research on artificial intelligence;
  2. Theoretical innovation in the Sinicization and modernization [2] of Marxism in the context of artificial intelligence;
  3. Research on artificial intelligence and the development of new quality productive forces;
  4. Research on artificial intelligence and the construction of new-type relations of production;
  5. Artificial intelligence and the institutional development of Chinese-path modernization;
  6. Artificial intelligence and the development of the digital economy;
  7. Artificial intelligence and the new round of scientific and technological revolution;
  8. Artificial intelligence and the modernization of social governance;
  9. Contemporary interpretations of the basic principles and classical works of Marxism;
  10. Research on innovation in the basic principles of Marxism;
  11. Disciplinary construction of the "Basic Principles of Marxism" [3].

The annual conference operates on the principle of "participation contingent on submission." Prospective experts and scholars are requested to write papers centered on the conference theme. Paper formatting should refer to the submission requirements of the journal Marxism Studies. Following the conference, selected outstanding papers will be recommended for publication in journals such as Marxism Studies, World Socialism Studies, and Research on the Basic Theories of Marxism. The deadline for paper submissions is August 20, 2025.
