Call for Papers: The Inaugural Academic Symposium on "Marxism and Agricultural and Rural Modernization"

To implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on agricultural and rural modernization, conduct in-depth research on the significant achievements and valuable experiences of Chinese agricultural and rural modernization, and strengthen the Marxist power of discourse [1] and interpretative authority in the field of “three rural issues” [2] research, the New Collective Economy Research Branch of the China Society of Political Economy, Sichuan Agricultural University, and the Marxism Research Branch of the China Association of Higher Education are jointly organizing the inaugural academic symposium on “Marxism and Agricultural and Rural Modernization.” The specific arrangements are as follows:

I. Conference Theme Further deepening rural reform and promoting comprehensive rural revitalization.

II. Reference Topics

  1. Research on Xi Jinping's important expositions on agricultural and rural modernization.
  2. Research on Marxism and agricultural and rural modernization.
  3. Research on agricultural and rural modernization and Chinese-path modernization.
  4. Research on the achievements and experiences of China’s socialist agricultural and rural modernization.
  5. Research on the theory and realistic issues of the new rural collective economy [3].
  6. Research on further deepening agricultural and rural reform.
  7. Research on the innovation of rural governance systems led by Party building.
  8. Research on collectivist education and the strengthening of rural spiritual civilization [4] construction.

III. Conference Time and Location Time: July 4 – July 6, 2025 (Registration at 14:00 on the afternoon of July 4; full-day conference on July 5; departure on July 6). Location: Offline meeting; the venue is located at the Chengdu Campus of Sichuan Agricultural University (No. 211 Huimin Road, Wenjiang District, Chengdu).

IV. Participation Method Participants will be invited based on the outstanding quality of their submitted papers. Faculty and students from Marxism theory and related humanities and social sciences majors across the country are eligible to submit contributions. Faculty and students interested in attending should complete the submission receipt (accessible by scanning the QR code in the lower-left corner) and send their conference paper (previously published papers are acceptable) to the registration email. The organizing committee will arrange for experts to review and select submissions, and formal invitations will be sent to selected participants by June 25; if not selected, no further notice will be given, and we ask for your understanding. No registration fee will be charged for this conference. The conference organizers will provide meals for participants. Please cover your own round-trip transportation and accommodation expenses.

Paper formatting requirements are as follows:

  1. The word count should ideally be between 6,000 and 12,000 words. It should include an abstract (within 300 words), keywords (3–5), and an author profile (name, date of birth, university, department, research direction, and contact number).
  2. The font for the paper should be Simplified Chinese Songti. Titles and subheadings should be in font size 3 (16pt), the main text in font size 5 (10.5pt), with single line spacing. Citations should use footnotes in font size "small 5" (9pt). Abstracts and keywords should be in font size 5.
  3. For references and citation formats, please refer to the journal Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu).

Applicants should send the Word document of the conference paper and the submission receipt via email to nyncxdhltmyh@163.com before 12:00 noon on June 20, 2025. The email subject, submission receipt, and conference paper should be named "Author Name + Contact Number."
