Pre-registration Notice for 2026 Recommended Admission of Outstanding Undergraduate Graduates at the School of Marxism, University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences
In accordance with the relevant requirements for postgraduate recruitment at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (UCASS) for 2026, the School of Marxism, integrating its practical operational context, plans to accept 16 outstanding graduating undergraduates for admission to Master’s degree programs via recommendation and exemption from the entrance examination [1], and 2 outstanding graduating undergraduates for admission to Doctoral degree programs via the same mechanism (for the catalog of majors accepting recommended-exempt students, please see Appendices 1 and 2). The notification of relevant matters is as follows:
I. Application Requirements
(1) Applying as a Recommended-Exempt Master’s Student
- Must be a citizen of the People's Republic of China.
- Must love the motherland, uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), uphold the socialist system, and be willing to serve socialist modernization; must possess good moral character and be law-abiding.
- Must be an outstanding graduating undergraduate who has obtained recommended-exempt status from their home university. Such status is only valid after being reviewed and approved by the provincial-level admissions office of the region where the undergraduate institution is located.
- Health status must meet the physical examination requirements stipulated by the state and the University.
- Must possess a certain capacity for independent investigation and research, as well as the ability to comprehensively analyze and solve problems.
(2) Applying as a Recommended-Exempt Direct-Entry Doctoral Student "Direct-entry doctoral students" (直博生) refers to graduate students selected from outstanding graduating undergraduates who possess recommended-exempt status to study directly for a Doctoral degree. The period of study for direct-entry doctoral students is no less than five years. In addition to meeting the requirements listed in section (1) above, applicants must also satisfy the following conditions:
- Applicants must have outstanding academic records, ranking at the forefront of their major or year group, generally within the top 20%.
- Applicants must possess a high level of foreign language proficiency; specific requirements are detailed in Appendix 6.
- Must possess a strong capacity for independent investigation and research, as well as the ability to comprehensively analyze and solve problems.
II. Application Process
(1) Material Submission Requirements Applicants are requested to scan materials 1 through 7 in the order listed in the Application Materials Checklist and integrate them into a single PDF document named "Name - Applied Major 1 - Master’s/Direct-entry Doctoral student." Material 8 (Pre-registration Statistical Table) should be accurately completed and saved as a separate document, maintaining its original format and name. By 14:00 on September 18, 2025, candidates must attach the two aforementioned registration documents to a single email and send it to mxy-ucass@cass.org.cn.
(2) Application Materials Checklist
- UCASS Application Form for Accepting Recommended-Exempt Students for Master’s (Doctoral) Degrees in 2026 (see Appendix 3);
- Valid National ID card (front and back); Student ID card with registration stamps for every semester (including the page with specific personal details);
- Undergraduate academic transcripts and ranking certification (must bear the official seal of the undergraduate university's Academic Affairs Department);
- Result slips from the National College English Test (CET-4/6) or other proof of foreign language proficiency;
- Representative academic papers, publications, or original work results that demonstrate academic level and scientific research capability, along with academic research achievements (published papers, monographs, or undertaken research projects) and award certificates;
- Applicants for the direct-entry doctoral program must provide recommendation letters from two professors (or experts with equivalent professional titles) within the Primary Discipline [2] of the major they are applying for (see Appendix 4);
- Personal statement including a CV and self-evaluation;
- School of Marxism Pre-registration Statistical Table (see Appendix 5). Note: Candidates must retain the original copies of the materials listed above for verification.
III. Re-examination Arrangements [3]
- The School will conduct a preliminary review and evaluation of the materials submitted by candidates and determine the list of candidates to enter the re-examination (interview/assessment) based on merit. The re-examination list is scheduled to be published on the School of Marxism website on September 18.
- Specific arrangements for the re-examination will be notified separately.
IV. Other Matters The above constitutes the notification for the School’s acceptance of recommended-exempt student applications. Should the Ministry of Education or the University issue new regulations or requirements regarding recruitment work, the School will make corresponding adjustments to the recruitment plan and implementation measures.
