Advance Notice for the 13th International Forum on the Communist Movement
Dear Expert/Scholar:
On January 5, 2013, at the opening ceremony of the Seminar for New Members and Alternate Members of the Central Committee to Study and Implement the Spirit of the 18th National Congress [1], General Secretary Xi Jinping examined and summarized the grand history of socialist development, clarifying the status and role of socialism with Chinese characteristics within the context of world socialism. In order to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, solidly advance research on the theory and practice of world socialism, and focus on constructing an autonomous knowledge system for world socialism and the international communist movement that possesses Chinese characteristics, Chinese style, and Chinese spirit [2], the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and the Faculty of Marxism at Northeast Normal University will jointly host the 13th International Communist Movement Forum. This forum is organized by the Department of International Communist Movement Studies of the Institute of Marxism Studies (CASS) and the Faculty of Marxism at Northeast Normal University, with the support of the editorial boards of Marxism Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu) and World Socialism Studies (Shijie Shehuizhuyi Yanjiu). It is scheduled to be held in Changchun, Jilin, from November 1–2, 2025.
The specific arrangements for the meeting are as follows:
I. Conference Theme and Topics
Conference Theme: The History, Theory, and Reality of World Socialism
Conference Topics:
- The historical process and development prospects of world socialism
- Historical experience and lessons of the international communist movement
- Research on major international organizations, historical figures, and historical events in the history of the international communist movement
- Research on new changes in contemporary capitalism and its relationship with socialism
- The current situation and development trends of foreign socialism
- The status and contribution of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the world socialist movement
II. Date of Conference November 1–2, 2025; registration on October 31.
III. Venue Northeast Normal University, Changchun, Jilin.
IV. Methods of Participation Participation is based on the submission of papers; invitations will be extended to selected authors. We welcome scholars to submit their work and register. Please send your conference paper to the registration email address gjgylt2025@163.com before October 16, 2025.
The email subject line should be formatted as: "Name + Institution + Professional Title + Paper Title." Following a review by the organizing committee, formal invitations will be sent to selected participants. The paper format requirements are as follows:
- The length should ideally be between 8,000 and 12,000 words. The submission should include an abstract (within 300 words), keywords (3–5), and a brief author biography (name, institution, position or professional title, research direction, etc.).
- The font for the paper should be Simplified Chinese Songti. The main title and subheadings should be in font size 16 (Size 3); the main text should be in font size 10.5 (Size 5) with single spacing. Citations should use footnotes in font size 9 (Small Size 5). The abstract and keywords should be in font size 10.5 (Size 5).
No registration fee will be charged for this conference. The organizers will provide meals during the meeting. Participants are responsible for their own round-trip transportation and accommodation expenses.
