Call for Papers for the 16th Academic Forum on the Sinicization of Marxism

To deeply research and explicate Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, to profoundly grasp the internal logic and contemporary values of the Sinicization and modernization of Marxism, and to thoroughly explore the contemporary paths and fundamental methods for constructing China’s independent knowledge system [1], as well as to enhance academic exchange among nationwide researchers of the Sinicization of Marxism, the 16th Academic Forum on the Sinicization of Marxism will be held. This forum is jointly organized by the Institute of Marxism Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Lanzhou University. It is co-undertaken by the Department of Research on the Sinicization of Marxism at the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, the School of Marxism at Lanzhou University, and the School of Marxism at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. It is co-sponsored by the CASS Think Tank for Marxist Theoretical Innovation, the CASS Research Center for National Cultural Security and Ideological Construction, the editorial department of Marxist Studies, and the editorial department of World Socialist Studies.

The forum is scheduled to be held on May 10, 2026, in Lanzhou, Gansu Province. We are now soliciting papers from colleagues in the nationwide academic community and welcome everyone to attend by submitting their work.

I. Forum Theme The Sinicization and Modernization of Marxism and the Construction of China’s Independent Knowledge System

II. Forum Time and Venue Forum Dates: May 9 to 11, 2026. Registration on May 9 (Saturday), sessions on May 10 (Sunday), and departure on May 11 (Monday). Venue: Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, Gansu Province.

IV. Manuscript Requirements This forum adopts a "submission-based attendance" policy. We sincerely invite researchers, teaching staff, and postgraduate students from national research institutions, universities, Party schools [3], and other units to actively submit manuscripts. Deadline: April 20, 2026 Manuscript Requirements:

  1. Submissions must maintain a correct stance, feature a clear theme, exhibit rigorous logic, and integrate historical and theoretical analysis. They should reflect academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical and practical value.
  2. Papers must be original, unpublished works, generally ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 words. Please use footnotes rather than endnotes; specifically, follow the publication format of Marxist Studies. The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 300 words), keywords (3–5), a brief author profile, and detailed contact information.

No conference fees will be charged for this forum; participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation expenses during the meeting. After selection by the Expert Review Committee, the organizing committee will issue invitation letters to selected authors by April 30. Excellent papers will be selected for recommendation for publication in Marxist Studies and World Socialist Studies.
