Call for Papers: The 13th CASS Forum on Scientific Socialism and the International Communist Movement

To deeply study, promote, research, and interpret Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee [1], and engage in a profound exploration of the latest developments in 21st-century scientific socialism and the international communist movement, while enhancing academic exchange, the 13th CASS Forum on Scientific Socialism and the International Communist Movement is scheduled to be held on June 13, 2026, in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. This forum is co-hosted by the Institute of Marxism Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Guangxi Normal University, and organized by the Department of International Communist Movement Research at the CASS Institute of Marxism Studies, the School of Marxism at Guangxi Normal University, and the School of Marxism at the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. We now solicit papers from colleagues across the national academic community and welcome participation based on submitted contributions.

I. Forum Theme Great Changes Unseen in a Century [2] and New Developments in Socialism

II. Time and Venue Forum Dates: June 12–14, 2026. Registration on June 12 (Friday); formal sessions on June 13 (Saturday); departure on June 14 (Sunday). Forum Venue: Guangxi Normal University, Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

III. Forum Topics

  1. Research on studying and implementing the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.
  2. Research on major theoretical issues in scientific socialism.
  3. Research on major practical issues in scientific socialism.
  4. Research on socialism with Chinese characteristics and socialism abroad.
  5. Opportunities and challenges for the international communist movement amidst great changes unseen in a century.
  6. Research on Chinese-path modernization.
  7. Research on the new round of technological revolution and socialism.
  8. Research on new changes in contemporary capitalism and its relationship with socialism.

IV. Manuscript Requirements This forum adopts a "participation via submission" model; we cordially invite experts and scholars nationwide to actively submit papers. Deadline: May 25, 2026. Manuscript Requirements:

  1. Submissions must maintain a correct political stance, feature a clear theme and rigorous logic, and combine historical analysis with theoretical inquiry [3]. They should demonstrate academic rigor and innovation, possessing high theoretical and practical value.
  2. Papers must be original, unpublished works of 8,000–15,000 characters. Use footnotes (at the bottom of the page); please follow the publication format of Marxist Studies (Makesizhuyi Yanjiu) for specific details. The main text should be preceded by an abstract (approx. 300 characters), keywords (3–5), a brief author biography, and detailed contact information.

This forum does not charge a conference fee; participants are responsible for their own transportation and accommodation costs during the meeting. Following selection by the expert review committee, the organizing committee will issue formal invitation letters to selected authors by May 31.
